The weather in Singapore is crazy! At the beginning of the week, it was raining cats and dogs till it flooded in several areas of our fine country. Then when it came Friday and Saturday, the sun was blazing like mad. So warm that most of us couldn’t stand the heat, we have to visit the air-conditioned shopping malls for comfort. Whatever. This week is a rather boring week for Castle Age players. There is nothing new happening at all.  Yes, we got a new hero for “sale” but that is about it. I guess the developers must be too busy counting their profits to do any real programming.  Or they are too busy at MySpace?

Anyway, I am currently involved in a mad serpent / dragon hunt. I have been slaying serpents continuously since the beginning of the week. It has been fruitful. Not wonder a lot of seasoned players say that serpent hunting has great rewards, especially in the form of favor points! You can’t get enough of favor points right? We always need more of those. You use favor points to do refills at the Oracle, or to purchase new heroes or to get chances at the chests. I myself often use fps to do refills, so as to gain level faster. Of course, I am doing dragon hunting as well. But due to the fact that for dragons, you can only expand stamina while serpents you can expand both energy and stamina, making serpents more flexible to engage. I would highly encourage players to go for serpent hunting and only engage in dragon hunting if you are no choice. And of course, there is a problem with serpent/dragon hunting – finding enough serpents and dragons! I have to join a serpent hunting group in order to get enough sources of serpents to fight.

They hate me. They really hate me. The developers I mean. Hitting for 7 million of damage/defense and I got 3 epics which are not impressive at all. Perhaps the 1 favor point they have given me reduced the rest of the rewards? Well, at least I didn’t get those stupid Gladiators which nobody wants.

And now I begin my serpent/dragon hunt. The problem is that I slain just too many serpents / dragons that it would be impossible to list them all down. So what I would do is to give you a list of serpents I killed and the amount of favor points I have received. That would you guys won’t be confused with too much data.

Amethyst Sea Serpents slain – 10  Favor points – 4

Emerald Sea Serpents slain – 8   Favor points – 1

Ancient Sea Serpents slain – 15   Favor points – 13

Sapphire Sea Serpents slain – 2   Favor points – 1

Gold Dragons slain – 3   Favor points – 0

Emerald Dragons slain – 1   Favor points – 0

Frost Dragons slain – 5   Favor points – 0

Ancient Red Dragons slain – 3   Favor points – 2

There you have it. Killed quite a number of dragons and serpents. The favor point drops are quite good. About 21 favor points for 50 kills. The reasons why the ancients drop more favor points could be because I hit those ancients more (harder to kill). More damage equals to more chances of having favor points (or more favor points if lucky). I really doubt that they drop more favor points compared to other dragons and serpents. But further experiments are needed to be sure.

Anyway, I have come to the end of this little update. I will be continuing this little serpent/dragon hunt of mine for sometime. We can’t get enough of favor points right? See you next time!

Level: 250 Date: 18-July-2010 Mood: Wass-up!

How are all of you? It has been a rather busy week for me, for both my work and my other life (if you don’t know what I am talking about, it’s Castle Age). My workload in the office has increase like three fold and my boss is constantly breathing down my neck, but of course, my pay has not increased one bit and I think my head is going to explode soon. Anyway, there have been some new additions in Castle Age, first of which is the new reinforcement which like the previous reinforcement thingy, they give you rewards for getting more “army” members. Mine was instant because I had gained more “army” members previously than was necessary for the rewards.

Yes, but too bad there isn’t an hero to claim.  I am guessing that the developers of Castle Age do not want to have too many free generals available or the demand for favor points might reduce and they can’t get money from players wanting more favor points. It makes good business sense not to saturate stuff which their cash cow brings.

Yes, the rewards are not impressive but these set of items and weapons could be for a new upcoming hero. Hopefully.

But this Solar Desolation is quite okay. Not the best magic, but quite good nevertheless. And it is free. Not much effort is needed on our part to get it either. Just add more “army” members and you are done. The trick is just to post in the Castle Age forums your profile and you get numerous requests to join their armies. Fun.

Next we have this Ivory City quests. Basically you will have to complete all these quests and summon some powerful monster, same as last time. Only difference now is that you will have to spend loads of money and enormous amount of time and effort to complete like 12 quests. The previous Azriel (Kingdom of Heaven) quests need just 10. Those older ones need like 4 out of 5 quests completed. The developers really hate us or think that we have too much time in our hands.

Aaaawwwwwwhhhhh……it’s a bigger, meaner and uglier Mephistopheles! In Castle Age, they call it Alpha Mephistopheles.

Summon Alpha Mephistopheles! I think I won’t be doing this anytime soon. I still have even started on the Kingdom of Heaven quests yet. Been too busy fighting monsters and trying to level up fast.

Ugly brute. Look at the numerous weapons that can be launched at him. And he still has about one quarter life remaining. Nasty. Sure, those 1000 level players make this so easy but seriously, once the normal players start fighting Alpha Mephistopheles, it won’t be as easy as that. Just like Azriel nowadays. You see so many failures. Even the Alpha Bahamut, I am starting to see a trend of failures happening more and more often. The developers need to slow down the number of monsters available or this might get too frustrating for players soon.

Some interesting loot but might not worth the effort. And stop giving us Gladiators! We hate those buggers.

Okay enough of the new features, we now go back to the rewards! We just love (loot) rewards don’t we? Kind of like Christmas, where you eagerly await the opening of presents. I must admit, I enjoy that part too. So without further ado, we shall begin!

I wanted this to be a speed kill. It went down in under 30 minutes but I got nothing, not even a medal for my efforts. I had to spend US$10 for 60 favor points and just look at the loot! Crappy as well. This is very disappointing for me. I normally don’t spend money to play this kind of games but I wanted a little thrill. Over 4.6 million in damages and defense and nothing to show for. Not even one favor point back. I think I will go and cry now.

Wooohoooo! I have got some good news! I have finally gotten 2 more heroes – Hyperion and Darius.  The hero Darius is from some reinforcement thingy. Basically it is some sort of Castle Age exercise which encourages you to get more “army” members to join you. So the more “army” members you have, the more rewards they will give you. Ultimately you will get the hero Darius. I got him in under a few hours once I realize that there is such a new feature.

Yup they call it reinforcements.  Seyou just need 2 more “army” members to get the first gift – Crushing Blade. The next few gifts are also given at 2 army members intervals. Easy.

Yes, the last gift is the Hero Darius. Not too difficult to achieve if you know how this works. If I am not wrong, the Darius general is also given as a reward for the Master when his apprentice reaches level 50 or something. So I wonder is there any new rewards or gifts for that now that we can get the general through the reinforcement route? Knowing Castle Age developers and their skill in acting blur, they probably won’t. They didn’t even complete the Altantis quest!

Yes, we now have Darius and his huge blade. Kind of cool to have all the necessary equipments for your hero in one shot, do you think?

Sorry, forgot to take a screenshot when I first got him. He was level 2 when I did the screenshot. And his “virgin” attack and defense stats are 15/15. And Darius is a pretty good general, except for his special ability which in my opinion, is crap. But Darius and his items are all free, so I better shut up now. All hail the Castle Age developers! And what is this Lionheart Civil War about?

Oh, Hyperion! Finally got all the necessary alchemy ingredients to summon him. You need a helm, a sword and one arm. Isn’t it amazing what you can do with alchemy? Took me quite a while to get all those ingredients from fighting in the War of the Red Plains. I was pretty unlucky I guess but I got 2 of all the ingredients needed. Which is good, since all these ingredients do help improve Hyperion’s abilities.

See my superior strength has persuaded Hyperion to my side. Amazingly he has 2 arms. I wonder how that works….

Oh, his attack and defense stats are the same as Darius. Are they related somehow? Since the developers did not do any writeup on the Hyperion character, we can only guess. Oh, the special ability of Hyperion is kind of cool, since he adds attacks to the War council. So it means this hero helps during War. I like.

Oh, and I got very lucky in the loots after fighting one of the serpents. 4 favor points!!! That is truly amazing! Castle Age developers do love me.

Okay, I guess it is time for what we usually do – find out what loots and rewards are there after slicing and dicing our enemies. Don’t you just love games in which monsters “drops” stuff after they are killed? The single most exciting thing about RPGs is finding out the loot our enemies drop after we slay them. We are all that greedy by nature.

I can be very sure that it was not in any of my rewards previously, so it should be a new unit. But then this Sun Eagle isn’t exactly a very powerful unit.

After slaughtering nearly 9,000 Zenareans, they gave me 2 pieces of EPIC crap – Holy Smite. What the hell? But at least I got one favor point. Sometimes I think that the developers need to really get their thinking straight and start rewarding players who put in more effort than the rest. I was the 3rd highest hitter in my category. No legendary loot either. I think I will go one corner and cry.

Wow, I didn’t realize that I seldom fight Lotus. And I didn’t realize that taking down Lotus takes a lot of effort. She is one tough scary lady/bitch to take down. Just look at her weapon (onslaught) and her gauntlet. I bet she got her weapon onslaught from the Goblin as well. You need plenty of hard hitting friends to slay her. I nearly failed but I was lucky, someone else came and took over the fight. Anyway the loot I got is a complete crap.

After slaughtering so many silly Zenareans, they finally dropped some important stuff for me to pick up and make little Hyperion. Yes, the Virtue of Fortitude allowed me to summon Hyperion and I added one more hero to my little army! Oh, and I got 2 favor points! Hooray!

Free! They are giving away a free general! I don’t believe it, but it is true. Castle Age is giving away a free general! Well, basically what you need to do is to have your friends send to you some gifts in order to create this hero. Yup, so what I did was to ask my friends to keep on gifting each other till we got all the necessary alchemy pieces  to create that hero.  I love the Castle Age developers for making this so very convenient for us.

There, 2 pieces of each and you are able to create Elin.

And that is exactly what happened. My superior strength has persuaded Elin to my side! Wait, that is not true. More like I have to much free time on my hands that day. Nope, I didn’t publish it to my friends. I am not a show-off, okay!

Wow, twin sister of Zarevok! She does not quite have the brute strength as her brother but she definitely received most of the smarts, which makes her a fearsome warrior in battle. Basically what they are saying is that Zarevok is a dumb ass pea-brain brute with a huge sword. Elin is smarter and yes, pleasant to look at, even with all those armour. And unlike most other female heroes, this one doesn’t seem to like to show off her boobs. Take for example, the below female heroes from Castle Age:

It is like one big Facebook Girls Gone Wild boobs-fest contest or something.  Even Keira, the demoness with two horns has big boobs! Take a look at her picture:

Look how perky they are! And amazingly, Castle Age finally came up with a female hero without showing off her humongous boobs to the world. I guess the artists for Castle Age grew up or something or suddenly turned gay. Or maybe his grandmother saw all those exotic art he drew and was not amused. Grounded him or something. Or made him wear a Chasity belt. Poor thing. Whatever, it is now time for the usual revealing of the loot from battle thingy that we all love so much.

And it gives me bragging rights among my friends. LOL!

I think I really killed too many orcs (or soldiers since the recent name change). STILL NO FREAKING DRAGON SCALE!!! I wonder why they hate me so. Been fighting what feels like hundreds of such battles and I have received just ONE, I repeat just ONE Dragon Scale. I have only ONE Helm of Dragon Power. I feel a bit sad. And disappointed. Wuhahahaha!

Anyway, just for your information, tactics in the War of the Red Plains do give very good results. Look at the tactics below.

Not bad considering my attack stats are pretty low at my level. Of course, it would probably be even better. This depends on luck and the equipment and items you have. Although hero stats are important, it is not as important as the equipments your heroes are equipped with. The difference between the stats of the different heroes are small compared to the items and weapons.

Level: 234 Date: 27-June-2010 Mood: Perky???!!!!

A new monster is available! Or can we consider this a Battle? Whatever. Basically it is yet another fight the monster thingy with a different twist. You get to use the same abilities as for “War”. Yup, so get ready to fight more monsters to get the best weapons/items for your heroes. No, you don’t need super powerful heroes (there aren’t really any significantly powerful heroes anyway), what you need is to get those powerful items for your heroes and they will do very well in “War”. The difference between “War of the Red Plains” is that you get to use the “Tactic” function, which you fight like in “War” aka your heroes vs the enemies heroes which then gives bonuses to your attacks. Confused? No, it is actually a very simple idea – you attack as per normal, then any enemy hero you killed, you get an additional bonus to that attack. Look below for more information.

Yes, additional damage to those Zenarean Soldiers, whoever they are. I think we are meant to kill as many Zenarean Soldiers as possible. Vermins.

Arrrggggghhhhh…..lack of the party health cause me to hit for less. Just imagine with full party health, what kind of damage can be done! Well, we can only live and learn, can we? I had initially thought that we will be fighting against other players, but I was wrong. I believe these are random units with random weapons and items. And look at the items these Zenarean heroes have, I have absolutely no idea what some of their stats are. Interesting….

Oh, the new gifts for you to create the Zenarean Crest, which in turn….

allows you to summon the War of the Red Plains, which in turn…..

allows you to create this Soul Crusher (need the Death Touch Gauntlet from Lotus I believe as well), or …..

allows you to summon this Hero Hyperion. From the forums, he looks kind of stiff for a hero. And the name Hyperion sounds weird in a fantasy setting, don’t you think so?  Sounds like a science friction name. They should call him “Hyperventilius”. Better. Especially considering that he is wearing such thick and heavy armour.  Whatever.

I tried my best, but they don’t give me good results for my hard work.  Anyway, I realize that I am finding it harder and harder to level up fast enough to do much of a difference in these high level battles anymore. I guess this is because there are more and more god-like high level players in Castle Age. Sad. And I feel that regular players who just want to have some fun playing Castle Age like me are being left high and dry by the developers. Give me a tissue.

The Castle Age developers are making me kill so many orcs, yet they are not giving me that stupid Dragon Scale I need to make my Helm of Dragon Power. I am angry. Oh, thanks for the favor points, I really need those. Well as I mentioned before, the rest of the loot are useless to me now. I hope that the developers will find some way for me to ditch all these useless weapons and items, something like Kobo but not only for gifts.

The wanton slaughtering of orcs is making me very sad. This is not like slaying Cronus or Bahamut or even Skaar, but this is the mass murder of innocent orcs. Yes, they breed like rabbits (or they are dug from the ground if you have watched Lord of the Rings) and killing one, there will probably be millions replacing it but sometimes we need to make a stand and say “enough is enough”. Give me my Dragon Scale already! Lol!

Yes, they have given me one favor point from killing this ancient sea serpent!  The rest of the loots are not impressive at all.  And only one Spartan Warrior, it would probably make me years to get my Spartan Phalanx. Actually, come to think of it, it is much harder to get this Spartan Phalanx unit then getting the Serpent units. If you are lucky and hit hard, you can get the Serpents as loot. But as for the Spartan Phalanx, just imagine the number of fights you have to go through to get those 300 Spartan Warriors! I am disheartened.

Hmmm……they changed the casualties from Orcs to Soldiers? Why? Is it because of the realization that orcs are living beings too and they deserve some sympathy than us just trying to slaughter them and getting no Dragon Scale in return? Is it? Oh, thanks again for the favor points. I am getting a lot of alchemy parts for the Holy Plates. Not very sure whether the Holy Plate will be useful in the future for me. But for the time being, I am still creating Holy Plates. They are pretty powerful armour.

I guess I have start fighting against higher level critters from now on.

Yes, it is another update for our beloved Castle Age online game. If you have no idea what Castle Age is, you don’t know what you are missing. It is some sort of massive online game with elements of RPG (Role Playing Game), strategy and adventure found in Face Book, all mix in one. And it is superbly fun! When you start, you might find that it is basically a click here, attack there, quest somewhere kind of game. But it is way deeper than that and as you advance, you will realize that there is much more than meets the eye. That is how I was hooked by the game. Everyday I spend about 1 to 2 hours playing it. Not too bad for what is essentially a text based game. You can find the game here. By the way, it is free.

Okay, I admit I have not been updating this blog regularly. But hey, what can I say? Work and family comes first. And sometimes after a hard days work at the “fields”, all you want to do is to sit in front of the computer and do absolutely nothing. And of course, playing Castle Age. Never been so addicted to a game in my entire life except for Ultima 7 and the Final Fantasy Series. And I will now start with what is happening to Castle Age. It seems to me that the developers do regularly update the actual game itself, which in my opinion is a good thing. It makes the game fresh as for some, it might get dull pretty fast. For some, it might get too overwhelming. Luckily, I am in the middle pack, which means I do get the enjoy the new features while still appreciating the old ones.

Hmm….Epic Monster Battles?

Oh, this monster list provides you with an easy way to summon monsters. As you level up, you will unlock new monsters to fight with your friends. The monster list will also record your fastest time for taking down monsters as well as the most damage inflicted on them. Compare and compete with your friends for the best time and most damage. Based on how much damage you do on monsters and how fast you defeat it, you will be awarded medals. Take them down faster to receive a gold medal and be rewarded various skill points for your efforts. Yes, that  basically means that you get skill points for fast kills and hard hits. So you will be seeing a crowd of people flocking to a few battles in the hopes of bringing it down fast. Not really a good idea in my opinion, considering that we see a lot of failed battles nowadays. They should encourage teamwork instead of “speed work”.

Not really an impressive loot but at least I got one favor point from that. Hey, I did 2.6 million damage and nearly a million in defense. But I did get a Deathrune Hellplate and a Deathrune Signet. Both are epic loots. The rest are okay loots, I guess.

Well, this is an attempt to get my Terra achievement. Oh, I know that this is a pretty easy one but somehow I did not find time to finish it. 2 more of Terras and I should have this down. Oh, the Colossal Armor is the Epic Summoner loot. Kind of pathetic if you ask me but seriously, this is rather easy, even for someone at a low level. Oh, I got a Energy potion! Wuhahahaha!

Tons of loot, but most of them are useless to me now. I got one favor point but that is the only real loot that is of any use to me. I am fighting this for Achievement as well. I didn’t expect to be hitting for so much damage though. I had thought that it would go down fast with help from other players, but they failed me. So I had to use my own stamina pool to kill it. Well, sometimes things don’t go according to plan. Again, this is indeed life.

Holy shit. One favor point and a Genesis Sword???!!! Wow, I never expected this. The Genesis Sword is one of the most powerful weapons in the game and I got it with just 1 million in damage. Not bad. Yes, so this proves that everything depends on luck. The trick is to get as much chances as possible for that “luck” to happen.

Hmmm….yet another favor point? It looks like the developers are finally loosing the noose in regards to favor points eh? Or is it just luck again. No matter, I think I hit the mother load in this battle. One Galdiator, One Volcanic Helm, two Hellforge Plate and a Volcanic Emerald. But wait, I had used over 6 million in damage and defense. For me, that is a hell lot of effort. Anyway, I will be keeping the weapons for the time being, as I have already two Volcanic Knights in my army. The weapons and armour will prove more useful than the Knight. And hey, no legendary loot! Why?

Yes, got my Atlantean Gauntlet to create my Atlantean Forcefield, which is quite a powerful magic. Of course, I would prefer to get a Frost Bolt, but from my experience, that would be very tough indeed. I believe it took me like 30 kills to get the 2 frost bolts for Medius. Sometimes, it is just not worth the effort and the frustrations. The rest of the loot are useless to me, except for the favor point.

With the exception of the Volcanic Helm, the loot droped by this Alpha Bahamut suck. But then I did hit it for about 2 million, so okay, I understand. Next time, I will hit harder!

So many orcs dead and no Dragon Scale??? What a waste. Orcs have families too you know. Killing one orc probably leave a few thousand fatherless. Those baby orcs might need to go on therapy for decades to get over the death of the father orc. And oh, all these loot are useless to me except to create the Holy Plate.

Well guys, as usual I have been neglecting to update this blog. Sorry about that. Been very very busy these days with my work and my family. Well, sometimes, other things take priority. But hey, I am here continuing the blog right? And yes, I have not been neglecting to play Castle Age. I usually spend about 1 to 2 hrs playing Castle Age every day. Not in one shot of course, but throughout the day. Although I complain about the game endless, it has been rather addictive. So if you don’t have the time to spare, please don’t play the game.

Okay, enough of distractions and excuses! I have some very cool updates to inform you guys. First of all, I have finally created the Volcanic Knight! Two of them in one shot. Not bad. And yes, I have finally gotten my Helm of Dragon Power, which has been eluding me since the beginning of time. I got that Dragon Scale after slaying a dragon. Not bad, considering that the Helm of Dragon Power is the most powerful helmet in the game. And those Volcanic Knights are impressive units as well. And in fact, the pieces for the Volcanic Knight are much easier to obtain for Cronus.

Yup, all the necessary ingredients to create the Volcanic Knight.

Here we have the Volcanic Knight. From the picture, it seems that he is holding the sword with 2 hands. So what happened to the shield? He ate it?

The Attack and Defense stats for the Volcanic Knight is quite good. The combined stats are the same as Cronus.

Yes, got the Dragon Scale to create the Helm of Dragon Power. Yaaaa!!!!

Yaaaa!!! However, how in the world did the Helm become a Dragon Mask when all the pieces to create that Helm does not have anything resembling a Dragon face? Boogles the mind, doesn’t it?

Not bad. Best Helm in the game. Too bad, I only own 1. All I am lacking are Dragon Scales. I should be able to create a few more Helms if I can find some more Dragon Scales. So I guess I will have to fight the Dark Legion for it. Boring…

Oh, I forgot to mention, Castle Age has something new – WAR! I believe it is something like the where you battle other players. But this time, you can deploy some more strategy than just brute force. If I am not wrong, it depends on your stats (Attack and Defense) and that of your generals. Better generals mean better chances of victory.  Basically, you assign generals to key positions in your castle (you can choose where you want to place your general in something called a War Council) and then fight it out. I have not tried it out myself. Too busy fighting monsters to test it out.

Anyway, I fought in the battle against Ariel, the Angel of Wrath and lost. Very very disappointing. I hit for about 7 million damage/healing and countless amount of stamina to return favors but in the end, it was a failure. And if you look at the picture,  you can see that it had about only 10% of life remaining. If only we had a few more hours, we might success in slaying it.  What a major waste of stamina and energy and effort. I had to spend hours returning favors and helping others with sieges hoping that they too would return the favor. Alas, it was not to be. I guess the initial problem was that nobody really got into the mood of things. So it was very slow in the beginning. And we also lack big hitters. Even the summoner himself did very little in terms of attacking. So it was probably doomed from the start. Anyway, here are some of the successes recently.

Yes, this is where I got the two Burning Blades. And with that I had my two Volcanic Knights. Alphas do drop good loots. Two epics and the other drops are quite reasonable. I believe that I have just shown that Alpha Bahamut drops can be quite impressive as well. And unlike fighting Ariel, Alpha Bahamut are much easier to bring down.

Yes, the Dragon Scale! With that, I created my first Helm of Dragon Power. I know, I should have my first Helm of Dragon Power when I was at a much lower level, but somehow it seems to elude me.  Not sure is it because I was unlucky, or that I fought very few dragons. Don’t worry, I will be correcting this soon enough. I am aiming for more dragons so that I can get the achievement rewards. And yes, no favor point for this one as well.

Was hoping for yet another Dragon Scale, but I got nothing of that sort. All I got was Defenders, which are epic drops from the Dark Legion. But seriously, the Defender’s stats are not impressive. You will find better loot some place else. But let’s be honest, Dark Legion battles are usually very easy to complete.

Oh, we got one Volcanic Emerald! Not bad, not bad at all. The Skullfire and the Volcanic Helm are also nice additions to my collection. And that very fat Gladiator will find a good home to hone his skills at the Arena. However if the gladiator is called Spartacus,  I would better be careful.

Wuhaahaha, got a favor point from this. Just about 100,000 damage and defence, I got one favor point. And 2 gift phoenixes as well. Compare this to the previous battle, you see the major difference? It seems to me that there really is a “sweet spot” to hit for the serpents. Try to hit/defend serpents between 100,000 to 150,000 points. You will usually get better loot.

A few epics like the Hellforge Plate and the Skullfire seems impressive. But look carefully, I hit/heal for 4,551,174 in total. That is quite a lot but the loot does not equate to the effort I put in. I am thinking that the developers DO NOT want to reward hard work. They seem to be rewarding “tagging” whereby players come in hit for a certain damage and then only to return to get the loot. This makes it kind of difficult for others to complete the battle. Well, what can I say?

Well, it has been a while since my last update. Been a bit busy but don’t worry, I have not been neglecting my Castle Age game. In fact, I have been playing it faithfully everyday already. Yes, I have leveled up to 211. And I have been fighting dragons, hydras and volcanic dragons. The dragons and hydras are meant for me to get the achievement for favor points. The volcanic dargons are for me to get the two impressive units – Volcanic Knight and Bahamut. They are indeed one of the most powerful units in the game. Oh, this post will be long. So sit back and enjoy.

I am about done with the Volcanic Knight, just need a burning sword. But the Bahamut, I am still lacking a lot of alchemy pieces. It seems that the volcanic stuff are hard to come by.  But I should be glad to get the Volcanic Knight first. I have fought like 5 Alpha Bahamuts, and put in a lot of stamina and energy, but still only 1 volcanic topaz. And worst of all, I got no legendary loot for me! Disappointed.

Hehehe, enough drops to make me happy. I got 3 alchemy pieces for the Volcanic Knight in this. Those Arcanists are also quite good drops. From what I know, due to the chance of getting legendary loots, the drops from the Alpha Bahamut is not as good as the ones from the regular Bahamut. But for me, I think it is about the same. Furthermore, in Alpha Bahamut, you get a chance to get a legendary loot, which beats fighting so many battles in order to get the various alchemy pieces. Remember, those legendary drops are Serpents! And they are powerful units!

Come on, you got to give me better loots than all these crap which I have no use for. But I guess this is part of the game. Sometimes you get what you wanted, sometimes you get crap. Even if you have spend a lot of effort to do it. Wait, just like in real life! Wow, this game teaches me real life! Or is it because I think too much?

Yup, I got the Volcanic Topaz. One of the ingredients to make Bahamut for my army.  The others drops are quite good as well. – Inferno Shield, Blazerune Necklace and the Volcanic Helmets. See – Alphas do drop good loot. Of course I still did not find any of the legendary loots from the Alpha Bahamut. But forums are abuzz with people with tons of such drops. So I guess it is all dependent on the amount of damage and luck.

I love Frost Dragons but they don’t drop much good stuff. No Dragon Scale to create the Helm of Dragon Power.  Hey, at first you might think that I didn’t put up enough of a fight, but for a dragon 235,000 damage is quite a lot! Each 5-stamina hit is about 4k of damage from my side. Spent quite a lot of effort on this.

Gildamesh, The Orc King with 18,972 dmg:

Yes, I am that friendly. Actually I am pretty sure that he will be able to bring the Orc King down himself, but he was a bit worried. So I helped him. Am I kind or what?

Looks like we have a new set of quests for you crazy hardcore Castle Age fans – Kingdom of Heaven! And it looks even worse than the Underworld Guests. The amount of money needed to buy and maintain the necessary equipment is just mind blowing, especially to someone like me who did not take care of his CA finances. My total land income currently is about $105 million, which I am told is just too low for someone my level. And it will definitely take sometime for me to get on par with the rest of the crazies in my level. Too bad. I had initially thought that money is useless in Castle Age (seeing that we are earning millions per hour), but now it has become more and more important till the point where it triumphs everything else.

See – Kingdom of Heaven. Check out the requirements needed to start the quests! And the amount of energy needed is quite a lot. Oh, you might be interested in reading the storyline. But for me, it just bores me to death. Basically, you click on the Quest bottom to do your quest. That’s all. You cannot go wrong, or choose the wrong path or kill the wrong monster.

The next two quests! Again, the requirements are getting ridiculous already. I wonder how many of the players can actually complete all the quests.

Last two quests. A total of 10 subquests for you to complete.  A bit different from the previous quests where you just have 5 subquests to finish. You might be broke by the time you reach here though.

Look out, this is a special mission. You need to finish 10 out of 10 subquests to unlock this. I guess you get to find this Azriel at the end. However, I am not sure what follows. I am pretty sure it would be more of the same – Azriel will drop some stuff which you will then need to make use of to do some sort of alchemy to create something awesome. Just how awesome will it be? It better be god damn awesome, considering the amount of time, effort and money fanatics put in to get to this stage.

Oh, you get to buy this soldier – Seraphim Angel. Check out how much it cost to just hire some of these “angels”? $2,225,000,000. And there is an upkeep cost as well! Is it me or does the developers have some sort of money fetish? At the beginning, money wasn’t that important. Now out of the blue, everyone is lacking the funds to do this or that. I understand the importance of adding new stuff to make the game fresh, but sometimes such things can be frustrating as well.

Hmmm….check out the Land of Fire quest. They have added a map for navigation purposes. So instead of the regular list of quests which we are used to, they have added this Quest Map for you to navigate along like of like those old RPG games where to get to travel around a “map”. But actually, it does the same thing as the list of quests. Just that now it looks prettier. Well….

Anyway, we now go back to what we enjoy doing – comparing the loot from monster drops. Don’t you just love to read what rewards were dropped after their battles? I know I do. I am pretty sure that most of you guys do as well. So I have finished my objective to get Chase, so I am not back to getting favour points. One of the ways to get favour points is to complete the achievements. The two I am currently aiming for are to kill 25 Dragons and 25 Hydras. So you might see a lot of dragons and hydras for the time being.

Yes, you didn’t read wrongly. I hit/healed for 5 million points! That is a lot considering that I am fighting Cronus at the same time. I got the Hellforge Plate and the Hellforge Guantlets. Just 2 epics. Imagine, I hit for 5 million points and got just 2 epics for the effort. And no legendary loot as well. Looks like Alpha Bahamut doesn’t give good rewards compared to the others. Or is it because I suck?  Those Rusty armors and Angelic Blessings are crappy rewards you know!

Okay, this is one of the toughest battle I had to date. I had to spend hours and hours fighting Cronus. Furthermore we had not enough clicks to launch the weapons, so I had to Call To Arms and post at the Castle Age forums nearly every hour. And to that I had to spend my time returning favours to those who have helped launch the weapons. But alas, it died from multiple shoots from me and my allies. Tiring but it was actually very exciting. Was managed to kill Cronus with just about 3 hours left! That was really really close.

Anyway, I got 2 Prometheus heads which is quite good. Also got the Atlas Head and the Tethys head as well. The 2 Prometheus allowed me to create two more Cronus through Alchemy, adding to my army. For that, I am quite pleased. But I still don’t think the rewards justify the effort. Castle Age developers should encourage players not to “tag” battles but to follow it through. If hitting for a million damage gives about the same as hitting for 3 million, then nobody will hit so high. Just 3 epics for 8 million damage is a bit too little when you compare someone who hit for a measly 1 million who gets 1 epic loot. This encourages the player to “tag” battles just to maximize loot/effort returns.

Yet another update. But this time, I have several interesting stuff to report regarding Castle Age. First of all, there is something called the Goblin Emporium. Basically it is a place where you can trade in your useless alchemy parts for a chance to get some useful stuff. I have accumulated quite a lot of junk for the past few months I have been playing Castle Age and I swapped them for some good loot. Of course, it is all random, you will have no idea what you are getting. But I have to say, some of the stuff you get in return is quite impressive. Next is the new Alpha Bahamut. An upgraded version of the original Bahamut. Bigger, meaner, nastier – so you will need to put in more time and effort to slay this. But you do get a chance for legendary loots which looks kind of exciting. And oh, I got Kaiser. I bought him from the 30 favour points I got from completing the 50 quests achievement.

Yes, used up my 30 favour points for this masked fellow. Isn’t he cool? He is one of the heads of a powerful guild of assassins. Cold-hearted and distant, Kaiser puts the completion of his missions above all else. Whatever, his stats are quite okay lah. When equipped, he increases the chance to land a critical hit on a monster by 1%.  Not as impressive as some others, but hey, who is complaining? I seldom spend my favour points in purchase of heroes. I usually purchase the treasure chests. Seldom get anything good though. Wuhahahaha!

Okay, this is the Goblin Emporium. You can access it via the Alchemy section of the Castle Age page.

Trade in 10 of your unwanted alchemy pieces for a chance to receive a mystery epic item.  Yes, there are some very nifty items for grabs from our Goblin friend Kobo. You can get a Hero and a powerful item.  Celesta’s Devotion is one of the most powerful weapons and the Serene’s arrow is used to summon the Hero Serene. But I never got any of them. Too bad. However, I did get a few onslaughts, some Altantean stuff, some rare weapons, magic and so on. I will need to try again once I got enough alchemy pieces.

Oh, here we have the Alpha Bahamut. Scary name – Volcanic King, Alpha Bahamut. As in for Alpha Males, this Alpha Bahamut is a major pain in the ass to bring down but they are good targets.  It also requires double the amount of alchemy pieces to summon.  I wonder how much life is increased from the regular Bahamut.

Check out the Legendary drops!Sea serpents! These are units I believe. The last one I have no idea. From what I see, it is some sort of an feather. As for what it does, I have absolutely no idea. Perhaps it is used to tickle your enemies to death? Death Tickle Feather? Whatever. The rest of the rewards are the same as the regular Bahamut.

I fought this to get the Sylvanas achievement. Quite a lot of epic loot but then I did spent a lot of energy to slay Sylvanas. Hey, 1,104,268 damage is quite a lot for Sylvanas you know. Enchanted lanterns, eleven staff and faerie wings! But no favour points. I am displeased with the developers. LOL!

2 epic loots (Moonfall Mace and Sun Blade). The rest aren’t so impressive. Of course, the lightning bolts are a great help, since I am always lacking in magic for my army. And finally got the 10 dragon killed achievement! Hooooray! Too bad, the rewards for the achievement is not favour points but skill points. The developers are smart, they are forcing you to pay for favour points. They won’t give it to you so freely.

Nope, didn’t get my dragon scale to create the Dragon Helm of Power. Too bad. That means that I have to keep on fighting the orcs or look for frost dragons, which are near impossible to find. So I will stick to killing orcs, my favourite pastime. Anyway, got 2 epic loots – the Holy Gauntlets and the Paladin’s Oath. Yes, I know, there is no favour points.  Thanks to the developers. But I see a lot of Valerian Mystics though.
