Castle Age Update – Monsters! 20-6-2010

Yes, it is another update for our beloved Castle Age online game. If you have no idea what Castle Age is, you don’t know what you are missing. It is some sort of massive online game with elements of RPG (Role Playing Game), strategy and adventure found in Face Book, all mix in one. And it is superbly fun! When you start, you might find that it is basically a click here, attack there, quest somewhere kind of game. But it is way deeper than that and as you advance, you will realize that there is much more than meets the eye. That is how I was hooked by the game. Everyday I spend about 1 to 2 hours playing it. Not too bad for what is essentially a text based game. You can find the game here. By the way, it is free.
Okay, I admit I have not been updating this blog regularly. But hey, what can I say? Work and family comes first. And sometimes after a hard days work at the “fields”, all you want to do is to sit in front of the computer and do absolutely nothing. And of course, playing Castle Age. Never been so addicted to a game in my entire life except for Ultima 7 and the Final Fantasy Series. And I will now start with what is happening to Castle Age. It seems to me that the developers do regularly update the actual game itself, which in my opinion is a good thing. It makes the game fresh as for some, it might get dull pretty fast. For some, it might get too overwhelming. Luckily, I am in the middle pack, which means I do get the enjoy the new features while still appreciating the old ones.
Hmm….Epic Monster Battles?
Oh, this monster list provides you with an easy way to summon monsters. As you level up, you will unlock new monsters to fight with your friends. The monster list will also record your fastest time for taking down monsters as well as the most damage inflicted on them. Compare and compete with your friends for the best time and most damage. Based on how much damage you do on monsters and how fast you defeat it, you will be awarded medals. Take them down faster to receive a gold medal and be rewarded various skill points for your efforts. Yes, that basically means that you get skill points for fast kills and hard hits. So you will be seeing a crowd of people flocking to a few battles in the hopes of bringing it down fast. Not really a good idea in my opinion, considering that we see a lot of failed battles nowadays. They should encourage teamwork instead of “speed work”.

Not really an impressive loot but at least I got one favor point from that. Hey, I did 2.6 million damage and nearly a million in defense. But I did get a Deathrune Hellplate and a Deathrune Signet. Both are epic loots. The rest are okay loots, I guess.

Well, this is an attempt to get my Terra achievement. Oh, I know that this is a pretty easy one but somehow I did not find time to finish it. 2 more of Terras and I should have this down. Oh, the Colossal Armor is the Epic Summoner loot. Kind of pathetic if you ask me but seriously, this is rather easy, even for someone at a low level. Oh, I got a Energy potion! Wuhahahaha!

Tons of loot, but most of them are useless to me now. I got one favor point but that is the only real loot that is of any use to me. I am fighting this for Achievement as well. I didn’t expect to be hitting for so much damage though. I had thought that it would go down fast with help from other players, but they failed me. So I had to use my own stamina pool to kill it. Well, sometimes things don’t go according to plan. Again, this is indeed life.

Holy shit. One favor point and a Genesis Sword???!!! Wow, I never expected this. The Genesis Sword is one of the most powerful weapons in the game and I got it with just 1 million in damage. Not bad. Yes, so this proves that everything depends on luck. The trick is to get as much chances as possible for that “luck” to happen.

Hmmm….yet another favor point? It looks like the developers are finally loosing the noose in regards to favor points eh? Or is it just luck again. No matter, I think I hit the mother load in this battle. One Galdiator, One Volcanic Helm, two Hellforge Plate and a Volcanic Emerald. But wait, I had used over 6 million in damage and defense. For me, that is a hell lot of effort. Anyway, I will be keeping the weapons for the time being, as I have already two Volcanic Knights in my army. The weapons and armour will prove more useful than the Knight. And hey, no legendary loot! Why?

Yes, got my Atlantean Gauntlet to create my Atlantean Forcefield, which is quite a powerful magic. Of course, I would prefer to get a Frost Bolt, but from my experience, that would be very tough indeed. I believe it took me like 30 kills to get the 2 frost bolts for Medius. Sometimes, it is just not worth the effort and the frustrations. The rest of the loot are useless to me, except for the favor point.

So many orcs dead and no Dragon Scale??? What a waste. Orcs have families too you know. Killing one orc probably leave a few thousand fatherless. Those baby orcs might need to go on therapy for decades to get over the death of the father orc. And oh, all these loot are useless to me except to create the Holy Plate.

Oh, by the way, I won my first War “battle”. I now understand the importance of having powerful items if you are aiming for the War route. It does make a lot of difference since at high levels, your heroes will not have significant difference in stats.
