Well, it has been a while since my last update. Been a bit busy but don’t worry, I have not been neglecting my Castle Age game. In fact, I have been playing it faithfully everyday already. Yes, I have leveled up to 211. And I have been fighting dragons, hydras and volcanic dragons. The dragons and hydras are meant for me to get the achievement for favor points. The volcanic dargons are for me to get the two impressive units – Volcanic Knight and Bahamut. They are indeed one of the most powerful units in the game. Oh, this post will be long. So sit back and enjoy.

I am about done with the Volcanic Knight, just need a burning sword. But the Bahamut, I am still lacking a lot of alchemy pieces. It seems that the volcanic stuff are hard to come by.  But I should be glad to get the Volcanic Knight first. I have fought like 5 Alpha Bahamuts, and put in a lot of stamina and energy, but still only 1 volcanic topaz. And worst of all, I got no legendary loot for me! Disappointed.

Hehehe, enough drops to make me happy. I got 3 alchemy pieces for the Volcanic Knight in this. Those Arcanists are also quite good drops. From what I know, due to the chance of getting legendary loots, the drops from the Alpha Bahamut is not as good as the ones from the regular Bahamut. But for me, I think it is about the same. Furthermore, in Alpha Bahamut, you get a chance to get a legendary loot, which beats fighting so many battles in order to get the various alchemy pieces. Remember, those legendary drops are Serpents! And they are powerful units!

Disappointing right? Yes, I got one favor point and a Altas head. But that is about it! And I did spend tons of stamina to fight the world hydra. Come on, you got to give me better loots than all these crap which I have no use for. But I guess this is part of the game. Sometimes you get what you wanted, sometimes you get crap. Even if you have spend a lot of effort to do it. Wait, just like in real life! Wow, this game teaches me real life! Or is it because I think too much?

Yup, I got the Volcanic Topaz. One of the ingredients to make Bahamut for my army.  The others drops are quite good as well. – Inferno Shield, Blazerune Necklace and the Volcanic Helmets. See – Alphas do drop good loot. Of course I still did not find any of the legendary loots from the Alpha Bahamut. But forums are abuzz with people with tons of such drops. So I guess it is all dependent on the amount of damage and luck.

I love Frost Dragons but they don’t drop much good stuff. No Dragon Scale to create the Helm of Dragon Power.  Hey, at first you might think that I didn’t put up enough of a fight, but for a dragon 235,000 damage is quite a lot! Each 5-stamina hit is about 4k of damage from my side. Spent quite a lot of effort on this.

Easy one. Just a few hits and the Orc King went down. Got a few of his stuff like his war plate, war axe and war helm. Whatever. Did this for a friend who is just starting out. Yes, I am that friendly. Actually I am pretty sure that he will be able to bring the Orc King down himself, but he was a bit worried. So I helped him. Am I kind or what?

Looks like we have a new set of quests for you crazy hardcore Castle Age fans – Kingdom of Heaven! And it looks even worse than the Underworld Guests. The amount of money needed to buy and maintain the necessary equipment is just mind blowing, especially to someone like me who did not take care of his CA finances. My total land income currently is about $105 million, which I am told is just too low for someone my level. And it will definitely take sometime for me to get on par with the rest of the crazies in my level. Too bad. I had initially thought that money is useless in Castle Age (seeing that we are earning millions per hour), but now it has become more and more important till the point where it triumphs everything else.

See – Kingdom of Heaven. Check out the requirements needed to start the quests! And the amount of energy needed is quite a lot. Oh, you might be interested in reading the storyline. But for me, it just bores me to death. Basically, you click on the Quest bottom to do your quest. That’s all. You cannot go wrong, or choose the wrong path or kill the wrong monster.

The next two quests! Again, the requirements are getting ridiculous already. I wonder how many of the players can actually complete all the quests.

Last two quests. A total of 10 subquests for you to complete.  A bit different from the previous quests where you just have 5 subquests to finish. You might be broke by the time you reach here though.

Look out, this is a special mission. You need to finish 10 out of 10 subquests to unlock this. I guess you get to find this Azriel at the end. However, I am not sure what follows. I am pretty sure it would be more of the same – Azriel will drop some stuff which you will then need to make use of to do some sort of alchemy to create something awesome. Just how awesome will it be? It better be god damn awesome, considering the amount of time, effort and money fanatics put in to get to this stage.

Oh, you get to buy this soldier – Seraphim Angel. Check out how much it cost to just hire some of these “angels”? $2,225,000,000. And there is an upkeep cost as well! Is it me or does the developers have some sort of money fetish? At the beginning, money wasn’t that important. Now out of the blue, everyone is lacking the funds to do this or that. I understand the importance of adding new stuff to make the game fresh, but sometimes such things can be frustrating as well.

Hmmm….check out the Land of Fire quest. They have added a map for navigation purposes. So instead of the regular list of quests which we are used to, they have added this Quest Map for you to navigate along like of like those old RPG games where to get to travel around a “map”. But actually, it does the same thing as the list of quests. Just that now it looks prettier. Well….

Anyway, we now go back to what we enjoy doing – comparing the loot from monster drops. Don’t you just love to read what rewards were dropped after their battles? I know I do. I am pretty sure that most of you guys do as well. So I have finished my objective to get Chase, so I am not back to getting favour points. One of the ways to get favour points is to complete the achievements. The two I am currently aiming for are to kill 25 Dragons and 25 Hydras. So you might see a lot of dragons and hydras for the time being.

Yes, you didn’t read wrongly. I hit/healed for 5 million points! That is a lot considering that I am fighting Cronus at the same time. I got the Hellforge Plate and the Hellforge Guantlets. Just 2 epics. Imagine, I hit for 5 million points and got just 2 epics for the effort. And no legendary loot as well. Looks like Alpha Bahamut doesn’t give good rewards compared to the others. Or is it because I suck?  Those Rusty armors and Angelic Blessings are crappy rewards you know!

Okay, this is one of the toughest battle I had to date. I had to spend hours and hours fighting Cronus. Furthermore we had not enough clicks to launch the weapons, so I had to Call To Arms and post at the Castle Age forums nearly every hour. And to that I had to spend my time returning favours to those who have helped launch the weapons. But alas, it died from multiple shoots from me and my allies. Tiring but it was actually very exciting. Was managed to kill Cronus with just about 3 hours left! That was really really close.

Anyway, I got 2 Prometheus heads which is quite good. Also got the Atlas Head and the Tethys head as well. The 2 Prometheus allowed me to create two more Cronus through Alchemy, adding to my army. For that, I am quite pleased. But I still don’t think the rewards justify the effort. Castle Age developers should encourage players not to “tag” battles but to follow it through. If hitting for a million damage gives about the same as hitting for 3 million, then nobody will hit so high. Just 3 epics for 8 million damage is a bit too little when you compare someone who hit for a measly 1 million who gets 1 epic loot. This encourages the player to “tag” battles just to maximize loot/effort returns.

Yet another update. But this time, I have several interesting stuff to report regarding Castle Age. First of all, there is something called the Goblin Emporium. Basically it is a place where you can trade in your useless alchemy parts for a chance to get some useful stuff. I have accumulated quite a lot of junk for the past few months I have been playing Castle Age and I swapped them for some good loot. Of course, it is all random, you will have no idea what you are getting. But I have to say, some of the stuff you get in return is quite impressive. Next is the new Alpha Bahamut. An upgraded version of the original Bahamut. Bigger, meaner, nastier – so you will need to put in more time and effort to slay this. But you do get a chance for legendary loots which looks kind of exciting. And oh, I got Kaiser. I bought him from the 30 favour points I got from completing the 50 quests achievement.

Yes, used up my 30 favour points for this masked fellow. Isn’t he cool? He is one of the heads of a powerful guild of assassins. Cold-hearted and distant, Kaiser puts the completion of his missions above all else. Whatever, his stats are quite okay lah. When equipped, he increases the chance to land a critical hit on a monster by 1%.  Not as impressive as some others, but hey, who is complaining? I seldom spend my favour points in purchase of heroes. I usually purchase the treasure chests. Seldom get anything good though. Wuhahahaha!

Okay, this is the Goblin Emporium. You can access it via the Alchemy section of the Castle Age page.

Trade in 10 of your unwanted alchemy pieces for a chance to receive a mystery epic item.  Yes, there are some very nifty items for grabs from our Goblin friend Kobo. You can get a Hero and a powerful item.  Celesta’s Devotion is one of the most powerful weapons and the Serene’s arrow is used to summon the Hero Serene. But I never got any of them. Too bad. However, I did get a few onslaughts, some Altantean stuff, some rare weapons, magic and so on. I will need to try again once I got enough alchemy pieces.

Oh, here we have the Alpha Bahamut. Scary name – Volcanic King, Alpha Bahamut. As in for Alpha Males, this Alpha Bahamut is a major pain in the ass to bring down but they are good targets.  It also requires double the amount of alchemy pieces to summon.  I wonder how much life is increased from the regular Bahamut.

Check out the Legendary drops!Sea serpents! These are units I believe. The last one I have no idea. From what I see, it is some sort of an feather. As for what it does, I have absolutely no idea. Perhaps it is used to tickle your enemies to death? Death Tickle Feather? Whatever. The rest of the rewards are the same as the regular Bahamut.

I fought this to get the Sylvanas achievement. Quite a lot of epic loot but then I did spent a lot of energy to slay Sylvanas. Hey, 1,104,268 damage is quite a lot for Sylvanas you know. Enchanted lanterns, eleven staff and faerie wings! But no favour points. I am displeased with the developers. LOL!

2 epic loots (Moonfall Mace and Sun Blade). The rest aren’t so impressive. Of course, the lightning bolts are a great help, since I am always lacking in magic for my army. And finally got the 10 dragon killed achievement! Hooooray! Too bad, the rewards for the achievement is not favour points but skill points. The developers are smart, they are forcing you to pay for favour points. They won’t give it to you so freely.

Nope, didn’t get my dragon scale to create the Dragon Helm of Power. Too bad. That means that I have to keep on fighting the orcs or look for frost dragons, which are near impossible to find. So I will stick to killing orcs, my favourite pastime. Anyway, got 2 epic loots – the Holy Gauntlets and the Paladin’s Oath. Yes, I know, there is no favour points.  Thanks to the developers. But I see a lot of Valerian Mystics though.

Yes, finally got Chase! Heck, it took longer than what is needed to get Cartigan, but it was all worth it. And I really feel a sense of accomplishment having to get the necessary 25,000 Battle Hearts to summon our beloved Chase. I guess it probably took about a month of fighting in sieges to get those Battle Hearts. Yes, fighting in sieges is pretty easy and you will seldom lost the battle, but you need to do a lot of sieges to get the Battle Hearts, my dear friends.

Hey, no information on Chase? What happened to the little history behind each of the heroes? Those developers of Castle Age are as usual, too busy finding ways to make money than to do a complete job in their game. Or perhaps they are just too busy with the MySpace project? Whatever, this is certainly no excuse for not adding the bio. They just need a few lines explaining who the heck is this Chase and why is he important.

Oh, I am sorry that I haven’t update my Castle Age information for two days. Been a bit overwhelmed with work and my government decided to call me up for mobilization. I had to spend a few hours at my camp doing absolutely nothing and achieving absolutely nothing. I just hate to do stuff like that, but as a Singaporean male, you don’t have much of a choice because some overpaid uniformed official has to much time on his hands.  Kind of sad to see this happening in Singapore.

Anyway, I knew that I will get enough Battle Hearts very soon, so I stopped fighting in sieges and started dragon hunting. I heard that they give good favour point loots. Depending on your level, summoning a dragon will create a certain time of dragon. For me, it is Ancient Red. And this is the most common dragon to be found. You get tons of them at the forums. What I seldom see is Gold Dragon and Frost Dragon.

Alright, 2 favour points! This is like striking the lottery! I got 2 favour points! It seems that fighting dragons is a good way to get favour points. As you have seen the several examples I have seen for the past few days, most battles and combats do not give you favour points or if they do, provide a very little chance of getting one. But I somehow got two this time round. Not bad! Not epic loots though.

I was hoping to get some good stuff for this siege since I would not be doing many sieges in the distance future. I have gotten Chase in my army already. Just one epic loot. Gotten two Eleven Plate but that is nothing impressive. Even the Atlantean Helm is nothing impressive even if it is an Epic Loot. Looks like Amethyst Sea Serpents are not good loot droppers. Or I might need to hit harder the next time to ensure that there will be better loot drops? Who knows? Need to really experiment to find out. I might have some time next week to do some serpent battles to see what kind of optimal damage to achieve the best loot.

470 Battle Hearts! One Great Halberd! Okay, I have to admit, I didn’t kill an impressive number of enemies, so the rewards were more or less expected.

I will be continuing my favour points farming attempt. If I have collected enough favour points, I can make use of the Oracle’s chest to summon even more heroes. Hahahahaha, finally got Cartigan to join my group of rag-tag monsters and other despicable vermins. It has not been easy for me to get the necessary loot to do the summoning but it was worth it. Actually I discovered that it was much easier to summon Cartigan than to summon Medius.  Took me about 3 weeks to get the loot for Cartigan through the Underworld quests. Took more way longer than that to get the necessary loot for Medius through fighting the Earth Elemental and the Ice Elemental.

Yes, got all the necessary rewards to create Cartigan to join my crappy army!

Err…..my superior strength has persuaded Cartigan to my side. Cartigan looks weird with his disgusting looking arm. I have seen some of their artwork. I think the artists for Castle Age has a fetish for weird looking arms.

Yada yada yada…..Attack 16 and Defense 15. Not bad. His stats is actually better than Medius’. And when eqipped, increases Player Attack by 1.

Next I will continue to update what has happened in my Castle Age. As usual, I am still continuing to get Chase. And as I mentioned before, this has been slow going. Getting Battle Hearts is not as easy as it seems. Fighting in sieges can take a long time and sometimes you feel disappointed with the results. But at least I am almost done. Just a few thousand more Battle Hearts and I should get Chase to join my “crapmy”. I wonder what stats does Chase had. Hope that his stats would be better than Cartigan, considering the effort I put into getting him on board.

Quick battle. Got 129 kills and was rewarded with 266 Battle Hearts. Not bad in terms of Battle Hearts gained and enemies killed. The rest of the rewards are not that impressive and no favour points! Come on, give us some favour points!

I went ahead and fought with Bahamut, the Volcanic Dragon as well. This was my friend’s request. I know, I know, it wasn’t necessary and since I was aiming to get Battle Hearts, I should not have joined this engagement. But hey, Castle Age is all about friends and I think that if my friend need some help, I should be glad to help him. He did provide great assistance to me before. Remember, you don’t play alone in Castle Age! It also gave me some more experience in fighting against the Volcanic Dragon.

Hello guys! To tell you the truth, it has been quite a ride hasn’t it? Every day I play Castle Age for about an hour or so. And like most people, I usually take a few minutes each time – a click here, a click there, kill some monster here, fight some battles there. And yes, even though the concept itself is simple, this game is extremely addictive, which to me can be bad. As you know, I can be rather obsessive at times. When I set my heart on something, I kind of have to follow it through. Bad? Well, imagine someone thinking non-stop of silly the game 24/7. That is me.

Anyway, I am still continuing my road to get the Hero Chase. So the same thing – fighting in sieges and hoping to get enough Battle Hearts to do the alchemy for Chase.

A very quick one. I merely joined to get some more Battle Hearts. had only 129 kills which I consider very low. And I didn’t get much in terms of rewards for that. A few crappy Spartan shields and some other loot. But I got 266 Battle Hearts at the very least. That is the most important.

Yet another disappointment. Killed 861 enemies and I got only 1040 Battle Hearts? Why? I had expected about 1800 Battle Hearts from this siege. Yet I was given only 1040. Even in my previous several sieges, I do get about double the number of Battle Hearts per kill. I am guessing that as you gain in Battle Rank, the number of Battle Hearts you received is reduced as well? The reason is Battle Hearts are awarded when you defeat someone higher in Battle Rank than you? That means that is will only get harder to achieve. Thank the gods I am nearly there.

Anyway, as usual, the loot is pathetic.

Yet another quick one. Joined to get some Battle Hearts seeing that the siege was almost complete. And I got 333 Battle Hearts! Now this is a bit confusing. My previous siege, I got 1040 Battle Hearts for 861 kills. This time however, I was rewarded with 333 Battle Hearts for 166 kills. So my previous theory about lower Battle Hearts reward when getting higher in Battle Rank seem to be wrong, does it not? It could mean that at certain amount of kills, you will get lesser Battle Hearts per kill? Need to do a little more experiment on this to understand how it works. I guess this is what makes the game as interesting – you will not easily understand what goes on in the minds of the developers when they design this game. And yes, still no favour points from all these sieges. Not a single one, my friends!

Moving on, I have received another Sword of the Faithless, which means that I am still missing only the Soul Eater (yes, the disgusting looking arm thingy). Why is it called the Soul Eater in the first place?

Yup, still trying to get enough Battle Hearts to get the Hero Chase. It has not been easy and sometimes it can be rather boring, having to do the same thing over and over again. But as this game is very addictive, I can’t help myself. So, yes, I am still doing sieges for those Battle Hearts. And yes, the same thing, I am attempting to get the necessary alchemy parts to get Cartigan as well. I managed to get one more Sword of the Faithless. Pretty happy with that. So all that is remaining is two more Soul Eater and one more Sword of the Faithless. And considering that I have not yet gained a level, quite fruitful in terms of rewards. Must be my lucky day!

This siege I had 941 kills and NO favour points! Goodness gracious, it really is super duper epic loot to get those favour points! Come CA developers, don’t be be a miser when it comes to favour points! But at least I got 3 Great Halberd and the Sky Sanctuary. Oh, and those 1648 Battle Hearts everyone so desires! So now I have the total of 21540 Battle Hearts. Hooray! From what I have experienced, I think that the Siege rewards is very balanced and fair. You kill more enemies, you get more rewards. If you kill less, then you get less rewards. In some other Castle Age monster battles, you get less returns for your efforts. I will give some examples in my future posts.

Anyway, I have started fighting Bahamut, the Volcanic Dragon as well. Yes, I got bored with the sieges, so I joined another monster battle. I am not putting a lot of effort into it though. I will update you guys when (or if) I get the loot. I doubt it will be anything good. I have killed about 3 Volcanic Dragons and got nothing impressive from the loot. But then again, I didn’t put much effort into them as well. Bye guys. See you next time.

Continuing my quest to get Chase. At the same time, trying to get the necessary rewards to get Cartigan as well, since the Raid attacks use only Stamina, I do have a lot of Energy remaining to do the quests.  I find that the Underworld quests are rather tough. Please note that different Underworld Quests drop different loot, so make sure you know what loot are you aiming for. I didn’t realize it when I first started those quests and now I ended up with 5 crystal of lament when 3 is enough. Remember, these quests are energy hungry, so once you got enough of a particular loot, do other quests to get other loot!

Yawn, yet another fruitless raid. Yes, I did get the Battle Hearts but looking at the above rewards, I think hitting too little in the Death Gates Siege is not worth it (I have only 177 kills). At least I got a Mountain Keep as a consolation prize. It is good to understand that luck do play a part in getting these rewards. You might be surprised to get great loots in one raid and poor loots in another, even with the approximate same number of kills.

Lookie here, one favour point! Finally, it looks like I am getting something more than shit for rewards. Or maybe I am just too optimistic? Anyway, favour points rewards are rare, so I will be sure to cherish whatever favour points they give me. The rest of the loot aren’t that impressive considering the number of kills. The Great Halberd and the Demon Strength are epic drops though. And 754 Battle Hearts to add to my collection of Battle Hearts.

Anyway, I guess the next few days I will still be doing raids till I get Chase. And my blog posts will be pretty boring since I will be focusing on raids. They will be the same as above. I don’t have any new stuff to report either. Sad. Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow.

Completed a number of Deathgate Sieges.  This is to get Chase, which requires 25,000 Battle Hearts and alchemy to achieve. Of course, we can get other rewards as well through alchemy from the Battle Hearts like Tempered Steel . But this time, I am aiming for the Hero Chase first.

Yes, no favour points as usual. Kind of disappointing.  The loot is a bit disappointing as well. Except for the two epic drops (Great Halberd), there is nothing impressive about the loot. Even the GReat Halberds are nothing impressive. But then I only had 396 kills, so it was okay I guess. Oh, additional 830 Battle Hearts! Chase, here I come. Na…still a long way to go.

Next, I defeated the Ice Elemental. This is to get the Frost Bolt for Medius bonus (+0.75 damage per frost bolt and 1 additional defense when equipped). Kind of difficult to get the frost bolts. I have been trying and trying but could only get 3 frost bolts to create Medius. My friend had been trying for a while as well. He still lacked 2 Genesis Swords and 2 Frost Bolts. I was lucky, once I had 2 Genesis Swords when I defeated the Earth Elemental.

As usual, no favour points. Do note that I hit more than 2 million points in both attack and defense. Still, no favour points. And no Frost Bolt! Come on, this is getting tedious. Get the epic loot Hellslayer Knight and the Frost Edge but that’s it. But was compensated with 2 castles.  It will be a while when I try another Ice Elemental. Getting Chase and Cartigan will be my top priority now. The frost Bolt can wait.

Yet another attempt to get more Battle Hearts for our beloved Chase and we come back disappointed as usual. One Great Halberd and one Wall of Fire. Oh, and a Mountain Keep. Whatever, got the 1030 Battle Hearts to aid in my quest to get Chase. Right, still no favour points. I am guessing that the developers are not willing to so freely give away favour points. They want you to pay for it! That is my opinion.

And next, we continue in our efforts to get more Battle Hearts. Here, I start from the beginning in the siege for Death Gates.

Hey, not bad considering that I just killed only 134 enemies. One Great Halberd and One Mountain Keep is quite good. I am wondering for part II of the siege, do they count the first part in the number of kills? If so, I think it is quite good since you will be rewarded twice for the number of kills. I didn’t realize this till now. Anyway, I have 18607 Battle Hearts already. If I calculate correctly, I should have Chase by the end of next week! Yaaaa! And meanwhile, I am trying to get Cartigan, which has been tough going. The amount of Energy needed to complete those quests is astonishing. I have 293 Energy and I am finding it very difficult to get the necessary rewards. Well, I guess this is what this game is all about. Patience. Hahahaha!
