What a name! Sometimes I wonder what those people in the marketing arm of companies do. Perhaps they just sleep the entire day and when it is time for them to do some work, they come up with long tedious names which nobody really cares. But actually the label “BioMum” does give the consumer a sense that this yogurt is meant for pregnant mothers and that it is very healthy. Well, I am not pregnant. And I am of course a male with no intention to ever get pregnant, unlike that Arnold Schwarzenegger show. But hey, what is good for pregnant mums should be good for everyone else right? Yes, that is way Easiyo has came up with this yogurt base. Yogurt is good for everybody but it seems that nutritional fortification is the main draw for this BioMum series. Well, if you believe that fortification is good for your health, then by all means, this yogurt base seemed to be full of them. Me? Well, I would prefer to go for the all-natural stuff then straight-up fortification.

Okay, we shall begin the little review!

Check it out. Brand new just for mums! This is for use in the Easiyo Yogurt Maker. Makes 1 kg. The Easiyo Yogurt Maker really makes making yogurt much easier. Just add the mixture with water into the yogurt jar, add boiling water to the insulated container, put the jar into the container and wait for 8-12 hours. You will have some great tasting yogurt in no time.

Well….the mum looks kind of cute actually. BioMum, remembers me of bionic woman.

Wow, in this BioMum series, they have probiotic abc, folic acid, calcium, iron and fibre! The probiotic abc means that good lactic cultures in the yogurt. This one comes with l.acidophilus, bifidobacteria and l.casei – thus “abc”. Most “probiotic” yogurt comes with these additional good bacteria to help maintain a healthy gut.

The back of the yogurt base pack.

Wow, with the benefits of live & active probiotic acidophilus, bifidus and casei cultures. Oh, folic acid is included as well, these are essential for growth and division of cells. Comes with calcium and iron. And finally, all natural ingredients, low Glycaemic Index, Gluten free, non GM and hala certified. Muslims should not have any problems consuming this yogurt.

Yes, we know. 220g of probiotic nutritional base! This will result in a very thick yogurt, which I like. Something like the creamy Greek yogurt. The resulting yogurt was a bit tangy but not sour. In fact, the tartness is just right. That is the reason why I always go for  Easiyo base. Very very nice.

The bald guy speaks – when pregnant, a wholesome diet is most important for both your wellbeing and your baby’s development. Easiyo BioMum may assist with digestion, uptake of nutrients, immunity and nervous system function, in this new life experience. Not too sure what the bald guy means but hey, it sounds cool.

Ahhh the ingredients are pasteurized milk solids from free range cows, sugar, dietary fibre (inulin), choline I-bitartrate, live cultures (l.bulgaricus, s.thermophilus, i.acidophilus, bifidobacteria, l.casei), ferric pyrophosphate and folic acid. The first two bacteria are just the normal yogurt cultures which most yogurts are made of. They are responsible for the tangy flavour of the yogurt. Without them, you cannot make yogurt. It would be just milk.

Here are some nutritional values for you to compare. Seems that iron content is pretty impressive. Just hope that it is absorbable by your body. But from the ingredients list, it seems that it is not added or fortified. Thus, it could just be easily absorbable.

Anyway, this is made in New Zealand, which makes everyone happy. I doubt that if it is made in China, we all will be worried sick about the real ingredients that goes into the sachet. Good bye and have a nice week ahead.

NuZeaBee Organic Wild Honey

I am sure that most of you would have seen this brand of honey in our local supermarkets. In fact, I have found them in almost every supermarket chain in Singapore. Of course, this does not mean that it is good, neither does it mean that it is bad. You see, I am very suspicious of foodstuff that are available in the Singapore supermarkets. First of all, I am worried about the quality of the honey. In order to produce so much honey, the beekeepers have to ensure that production is ever increasing. So definitely corners will have to be cut. Next, honey is best eaten raw. In fact, there is no other way to consume honey. But the truth is, most honey are not raw. They have been heat treated during the processing and quality of the honey will be compromised. If you don’t see any information on the label on the bottle that states that it is raw, then most likely, it isn’t raw. Since it is not regulated, any honey manufacturer can claim that their honey is raw but we know that unheated honey is difficult, tedious and slow to process. So make sure that you buy honey from reputable manufacturers who guarantees their products.

Anyway, I bought this because it looks pretty interesting. It looks like creamed honey but no where on the label does it state that the honey have been creamed. So I often wonder whether it is actually either untreated or lightly treated honey. If so, then it could be worth a look. And compared to those real raw honey, it is pretty cheap. Some raw honey can cost up to S$40 per 450g! Pretty expensive huh? The NuZeaBee Organic Wild Honey cost about S$12 per 500g bottle. And this is from New Zealand, famous for it’s lush and clean environment. Well, hopefully, it can provide some health benefits to poor little old me.

Take a look – creamy right? Does not look like regular honey we see in the stores.

NuZeaBee – Wild Organic Honey. 500g of delicious honey.

Okay, the wilderness of New Zealand spans large areas of countryside and native forests. In the environment there is no spraying of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. It is all natural. The bees buzz freely to collect nectar from the flowering plants and make honey from the nectar. This honey is the Wild Organic Honey, simply pure and organic. NuZeaBee Wild Organic Honey is natural with no added water, sweetener or preservative. Creamy honey like NuZeaBee Wild Organic Honey is best stored in a cool environment.

From what I know, it does not crystallized like other honey. And for those who like to eat directly from the bottle, it is pretty good. Makes it easy to scoop as well. Do note that although is creamy, it is not thick like the Really Raw Honey which I bought a few months ago. I actually prefer Really Raw Honey but hey, how many can afford to spend S$40 of honey per month? And very importantly, this honey do not taste sickly sweet.  Don’t you just hate eating honey which overwhelms your taste buds? At the very least, this honey taste a little lemony with a hint of cinnamon.

No Water added! This is why it is so creamy! Could be true. Honey should not be watery. Since if honey was watery, there is no way the beehive where the bees store their honey can hold them together. It would be “leaking” out of the beehive in no time. Of course, this does not mean that you cannot whipped the honey till it becomes creamy. If you look carefully at our supermarket shelves, you can see several brands of “creamed” honey.

Check it out - creamy. Just the way I like my honey. Again, if it is naturally creamy like that, I really don’t mind. But if the honey was “creamed” by the manufacturer, then forget about it.  It is just like whipped cream.

Cool, full body spa polish! You get a complimentary Honey Creme which is a luscious spa polish that exfoliates and moisturizes your skin. Lol!

Oh, 100 percent pure and naturally aerated, NuZeaBee honeys are specially processed for that signature smooth and creamy texture. And best of all, there is no added sugar, water, additives and preservatives. Oh, so it is processed to make it creamy? Sianz….

Honey can promote anti-aging by encouraging the natural renewal of skin cells. It contains antioxidants, providing a natural shield for your skin against atmospheric free radicals. It also helps your skin to retain moisture, keeping your skin hydrated, smooth and youthfully supple. And finally, it contains anti-microbal, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a natural elixir for pimples and minor wounds. Actually, you will need to ensure that the honey is no heated treated in order to enjoy all these benefits. Seriously, we all need to understand that heat destroys antioxidants and change the structure of the vitamins and minerals in the honey.

Go ahead and have a spa! See you guys next time!

If you guys are familiar with Facebook, I am sure that you guys should have heard of Facebook Apps? It is some “application” developed on Facebook. Something like an “add-on” the social networking site Facebook. What it does is allow users to make use of the Facebook platform and develop software and programs. Think of it like Google apps where you can use the Google platform to do collaboration between your users. But of course, Facebook is a little less serious than Google apps. Here you can find games, networking apps and programs developed for the Facebook platform.

And one of my favourite is Castle Age. I play it nearly everyday. Sometimes even at work, I will sneak a few minutes to play Castle Age. Basically it is a web-based game where you will fight monsters like Hydras and complete quests, all in the hopes of gaining experience and up your level. And when you increase in level, you get more abilities to complete quests and fight even more monsters. Yes, it is just like your typical fight and gain level RPGs but comes with a twist. You will need to get your friends to join your army and this way, you can improve your attacks. The more friends you get to join, the more powerful your army gets. That is why they call this an “social networking site”. The main aim is for you to get to know other people on the same site. But of course, for an anti-social like me, I normally don’t do that. What I did was post my ID on some forum and people will add you to their army. It is simple, fast and you get a large army in a short period of time. Pretty smart huh? It is impossible to have several hundred real friends to join you in Castle Age anyway. Not everyone in your group likes playing games where there are monsters and orcs. Not everyone in your group enjoy spending hours clicking on the mouse just to gain a few “experience points”. So, only way is to get like-minded persons to join you is through forums. They add you to their army and you accept the invitation. That is it!

Oh, by the way, Castle Age is addictive. Very addictive. Although the concept of the game is simple – fight monsters and complete quests – the idea of improving your character, gaining gold, gaining magical weapons and completing quest is so cool. Sometimes you feel that you have to be at the computer screen the entire day just to make sure your character’s stats is perfect. I remember when I started playing Castle Age, I was virtually spending all of my time in front of the computer trying to kill this monster before the time runs out for me. They have this time system where by your stamina and energy (needed to complete quests and fight monsters) gets replenished over time, so you will have to fight, then wait a while, then fight again. Time consuming, but all so fun!

I highly recommend Castle Age to my readers. But please don’t get too addicted to it.

First of all, I did not purchase this. It was given to me by my friend. And from what I know, it costs like 20 dollars per dollar. Yes, definitely beyond my means but my friend thought that I need some cheering up, so he bought this as a present. Well, the first impression I had was that this is some sort of a wine but it isn’t. It is just grape juice. The design of the box is simply beautiful – like most Japanese products. I guess that is why they are so successful in branding their image. Singapore companies should learn a little from this. In a very competitive market, attractive packaging actually does help a lot. Singapore companies seem to be very distant from their customers. Too bad. Anyway, I wonder why it cost so most? It is just grape juice and no matter what kind of grapes you use, it shouldn’t be that expensive right? Well, I have no idea why it is so expensive. I drank the entire bottle and it does taste wonderful, but grape juice is grape juice. How great can it be to cost 20 dollars a bottle. Even buying high grade grapes from the organic store doesn’t cost that much. Yet, the Japanese have managed to make a juice so damn expensive.

Okay, without further ado, I shall begin the little review. And I have absolutely no idea what is the name of this brand of juice. Humourous.

Nice right? The purple letters is to tell you that this is grape juice. It comes with this paper box and is elegantly designed.

100% juice! Hooray, if you are rich. No hooray if you are poor.

Yayayayaya. No idea what they are saying. But I am guessing they are telling you not to purchase their product because it is made from poor quality rotten grapes which have been growth with toxins and artificial fertilizers which can poison you.  They are also telling you that in the process of juicing the grapes, the run-down dirty factory which they are based in, have added tons and tons of disgusting stuff into the juice. Drink at your own peril!

Why this Makota-Ya (S) Pte Ltd guys never put any English labeling on the box? I want to complain! Oh, this is a product of Japan. No surprises there.

Ahhh….the bottle of juice. Sorry, I shake the bottle a little when I was carry it upsides so you get a little bubbles. But isn’t the colour of the juice amazing? Deep dark purple. It shows you that this juice have been cold pressed and is unfiltered.  You won’t get this kind of juice in our local supermarkets. They have all been heat treated or at the very least filtered to make it more accept to the consumer. But for me, this kind of juice is the best. (Not really, the best is always fresh grape juice).

A closeup of the juice. How do you like it?

More Japanese words. No idea what they meant. But as you can see, the labeling on the bottle isn’t as nice as the box. Lol, we have just been tricked! Hahahahah!

600ml only? And so expensive? This is one juice for the really rich in Singapore. Sad, it does taste pretty nice and rich though. You would have expect the juice to be either too sweet or too sour and watery like all unsweetened fresh juices, but not this. I am guessing they use a blend of different grapes and the skins to achieve that. And since certain seasons will produce different sweetness, it is hard to get a consistent taste without blends. That is my guess anyway.

They use one of those bottle caps. Hmmm…..not as high class as they seem. But it will do. They also have a screw cap in case you cannot finish (or cannot bear to finish) the bottle of juice.

Yes, Chinese New Year is coming soon. I believe it is on the 14th and 15th of February. So are you guys ready for it? I mean are you prepared for the reunion dinner and other preparations? Many people tend to delay till the last moment to get their stuff ready. But remember, this is Chinese Year Year and the majority of Singaporeans are Chinese, which would mean that the restaurants are fully booked, stuff which you want have been snapped up and everyone would be very very busy. If you are lucky enough not to be the one dealing with the preparations, then you should be glad. For those who have to find restaurants for the reunion dinner or search for food caterers for their company’s own little Chinese New Year party, well…..good luck.

We know that due to time constraints, it would be better to start preparing early. If you have to cater for hundreds of people, the first time you should do is to get a quotation from the various caterers out there. Singapore seems to have tons of them, which is good. It is important to note that due to the fact there they too will have lots of orders, you should book them early to avoid any unnecessary changes or delays. Next, you should find a suitable venue in your office for the party. Catering for hundreds of people need a lot of space for tables for the food, chairs, decorations and so on. You should also book that early as well. For my company, it is usually the events room. Some might want to use their meeting rooms for this purpose (if large enough). Oh, don’t forget the dietary requirements of some of the staff when ordering food. In my opinion, it is always better to order more than less. Of course, you won’t want to order so much that so much food remains after the party. Your boss might not like it, they being money minded and all. So ask your caterer for recommendation on the amount of food. A reliable caterer should have all the necessary knowledge to help you in this.

In Singapore, we are all very busy. Nowadays a significant number of Singaporeans do not cook or even eat their reunion dinner at home. We bunk at the restaurants. It is understandable. We just don’t have the time to cook, prepare the meals and then do all the washing and cleaning. Okay, we are just lazy. Who can blame us right? We spend most of the day at the office, come back home we are just too tired to do anything else. Of course restaurants start to look very attractive to busy folks. Anyway, as usual, book early. Find a restaurant which you think is suitable and see what packages they are offering. And just as before, I expect the quality during the reunion dinner to drop slightly since it is going to be a busy night for them. If the quality of the food drops too significantly, then you should avoid them the next reunion dinner. And yes, the prices for reunion dinner packages can be very scary at times. Don’t expect it to be the same price as usual. And they have schedules (like one a half hour) and you will need to be on time. If not, the next group of customers will come in and you will have to eat that the hawker center for your reunion dinner. That might not go well with the rest of your family.

If you are interested to look for food catering companies, please check out my listings of Singapore Food Caterers. If you are interested to look for Chinese restaurants, please check out my listings of Singapore Chinese Restaurants. Good luck. And I wish you all a prosperous and happy Chinese New Year! Don’t wait till the last minute to do all your shopping. You will regret it!

ECJ Farms Dried Mangoes

Been visiting our local supermarkets these few weeks to search for the different brands of dried mangoes and trying to figure out which is the best. As you guys know I love mangoes. Can’t get enough of them. What surprises me most is that dried mangoes are pretty expensive. Even fresh mangoes are expensive in Singapore. Not too sure why. I would expect that such a tropical fruit would be cheap in Singapore, we being in a tropical country and all. But that is not the case. I guess in Singapore, sooner or later, everything will be expensive. Just look at those Soya Bean drinks nowadays. Once it cost like 20 cents per cup, now it is like $1.20! This is inflation gone really really wild.

Anyway, I found this ECJ Farms Dried Mangoes. The packaging is pretty nice and it caught my eye. Yes, packaging can be kind of important, especially when it comes to dried fruits because there are so many brands available. The only way you are going to attract some attention from consumers is to make it look all pretty. Of course, the quality of the dried fruits is important as well. No point looking pretty but taste horrible right? Can be a real letdown.

We have the ECJ Farms Dried Mangoes. Distributed by Phoenix Logistics & Marketing Pte Ltd. Yup, they stuck this big label telling you that they are the distributors of this dried mango. An overkill if you ask me.

Yes, premium quality mangoes, straight from the farm.

The back of the pack. Cannot see anything? Don’t worry, I have taken the liberty of taking a more detailed photo for you guys to enjoy.

ECJ Farms are located in Negros Occidental, where the foot of Kanlaon Volcano meets the green plains of the island and in the province of Mount Apo to the southernmost tip of Mindanao. From these two fertile locations are produced the choicest tropical fruits that are showered by nature’s loving rain, “blest” by the sun’s nurturing rays and cared for by the very farmers who own the land……watever. I stopped reading right there and then. Too much information for me. Basically they are saying that the mangoes are supposedly well cared for and the product is going to be very very delicious. Oh, this is a product of the Philippines. That is where all the good quality mangoes are from.

Singapore mangoes are horribly sour. During my army days, I used to pluck a few mangoes from the trees around my place. No, they don’t taste nice at all. Stick to Philippine Mangoes.

The ingredients are selected mangoes, sugar & preserved with sulphur dioxide. I am not a fan of preservatives, especially sulphur dioxide but from my experience, it seems that nearly all the dried mangoes have been preserved with some sort of chemicals. Perhaps it is because mangoes do not dry very well? Hey, check it out, the Vitamin C content is pretty impressive. This would mean that the mangoes are not heated during the drying process because Vitamin C is heat sensitive.

Sadly, I didn’t find this ECJ Farms Dried Mangoes tasty. It is just a bit too dry. I am sure that there are people out there who like their dried mangoes extremely dry but I like my juicier. or at the very least, chewy instead of crumbly. It feels like I am eating a piece of mango candy.  For those like me, I would recommend Joy or 7D mangoes. Their dried mangoes do have some chewiness in them and juicy too!

Fernleaf Calci Yum Yogurt – Mango & Strawberry

Yup, it is time for a new yogurt review. It has been a long time since I reviewed yogurt. Well, it is not because I have not been consuming yogurt. In...

Yup, it is time for a new yogurt review. It has been a long time since I reviewed yogurt. Well, it is not because I have not been consuming yogurt. In fact, I am consuming yogurt nearly every day. The reason is because I have reviewed nearly all of the yogurt available at our local supermarkets. Furthermore, I am now making my own yogurt, so it is the same old boring sequence which is pointless to post in this blog. Just once is more than enough I guess. But however, it seems that there is a new yogurt in our local supermarkets – this Fernleaf Calci Yum yogurt. Fernleaf is famous for making the cheap “whole family” formula milk powder which it seems that no ones consumes.  I assume that adults don’t like drinking milk made from powder since it kinds of reminds them of childhood. But for me, as long as it is reasonably cheap, I will use it. What to do? I have not rich and my bank account is often empty.

Anyway, so I purchased this from Shop N Save. Pretty sure that it is available at NTUC, Sheng Siong, Giant and all those supermarkets. The price is pretty okay, but there are cheaper ones out there. I had expected them to market a very cheap yogurt for the masses but I was wrong. This might be targeted at parents wanting some calcium for their kids.

Here we have the Fernleaf Calci Yum Yogurt. 2 flavours! Mango and Strawberry. Each cup is about 60g, so beware, the total is just 240g. The cup is actually pretty small. Check out the cheating giraffe playing hoops. I mean, who can beat the giraffe at hoops? It is tall and…..

Wooohooo! Contains live and active cultures. This is very important when buying yogurt. Without these “probiotic” cultures, it will be less benefical to consume yogurt. These cultures help to maintain a healthy gut flora and we know that the gut is extremely important when fighting against diseases. It is estimated that 70% of your immune ssytem depends on your gut. So remember, probiotics is very important!

Okay, the ingredients are water, milk solids, sucrose, maltodextrin, tri-calcium phosphate, vitamin D3, live cultures (lcatobacillus bulgaricus and streptococcus thermophilus), permitted emulsifiers/stabilisers, flavourings and coloutings. The extra calcium is probably from the tri-calcium phosphate. Yes, there might be a lot of calcium in the yogurt but it does not mean that your body can absorb it. I always believe that adding “tri-calcium phosphate” or any chemicals into a food product (called fortification) is pointless since these might not be make used by your body. It is better to go the natural way. And vitamin D3? Yes, Vitamin D does help in calcium absorption but it is better to get Vitamin D from exposing your body to the sun rather than as a oral supplement. Exposing to sunlight is the natural way our bodies get Vitamin D.

Oh, the milk is from New Zealand! This yogurt contains 2 times the calcium compared to normal full cream milk. Again, this is great and all, but how about the absorption rate? Can your body make use of those extra calcium. I am pretty sure that it is unlikely.

4 small cups of yogurt. 2 mango and the rest are strawberry.

Fernleaf Calci Yum!

2 X calcium of milk gram for gram.

Mango flavoured yogurt from Fernleaf. And yes, check out the amount of colouring needed to get that kind of nice yellowish colour.  The mango flavour isn’t really that nice either.  I was hoping that they would make something which beats the rest of the yogurts available at our local stores. I was disappointed. Their yogurt is nothing spectular. In fact, I think it is downright boring and dull.

The strawberry flavoured yogurt. Again, check out the amount of colouring needed to get that nice pinkish colour.

Well, sadly, the Fernleaf Calci Yum yogurt does not impress me one bit. Taste-wise it is just plain dull. The texture is okay but again, it is probably in the middle of the pack compared to the rest of the yogurt. One thing I find good about this brand of yogurt is that it is not too sweet. Some of the yogurts are pretty darn sweet. Your choice I suppose. I am very disappointed. Fernleaf needs to come up with something special if they want to survive in the yogurt market.

New Technique White Tea?

Although most of us have just only heard of white tea, it has been around for centuries. If I read correctly, white tea is probably what those ancient Chinese drank before they discovered the art of fermentation in order to get those green and black tea. And of course, white tea is made from the buds and fresh leaves and unlike regular green and black teas, the white tea leaves are pluck on certain short seasons. For me, I don’t really care that much. Just as long as the tea taste great and gives me better health benefits, I don’t care when or how they are plucked. And yes, research have shown that white tea has the highest antioxidant levels in all the teas since it is the least processed. That is good. We all know that free radicals in our bodies are harmful and antioxidants helps our body fight off these free radicals. Free radicals are formed in our normal daily functions, so regular consumption of antioxidants is important to maintaining optimal health. Since tea is easy to make (just add hot water) and can be inexpensive, I would highly recommend everyone to regularly consume tea.

However, if you are like me and don’t appreciate black tea, we can always opt for white tea. Why? Because white tea has the least flavour as well as the least bitter. It does not have the grassy aftertaste of green tea. Of course, there are still some of the tea “aromatics” in white tea, but nothing too overwhelming. Easy to drink. And there is definitely no need to add any sweetener to the drink. I normally drink a few cups every morning. Refreshing! Anyway, I am here to introduce to you another white tea. But this one is slightly different. This “new technique” white tea uses the same buds and leaves as before, but this time, it is withered a little longer than regular white tea. So you do get more of a flavour, but still retains most of the characteristics of white tea. The resulting brew looks kind of yellowish.

Here we have a can of the “New Technique Fujian White Tea“. Look at the leaves, they look brownish. Even more so that green teas. Those regular white teas actually look very pleasing. If once you brew the tea, the leaves will be all neatly on the bottom of the cup and it just looks beautiful. This “New Technique” White Tea actually looks like of disgusting because of the brownish leaves. Lol.

Another photo of the tea leaves.

A few of the tea leaves for your viewing pleasure. Looks like those poor quality loose tea leaves you can buy from Sheng Siong. But surprisingly, these are pretty expensive. The taste is alright, I supposed. I am not some tea expert to really know what difference is there. It does taste okay and yes, a little more flavour. The colour of the tea is light brownish yellow.

Magnolia Fresh Milk

In Singapore, I doubt you can find real fresh milk. However, if I am not wrong, there is a company in Singapore which produces their own milk locally. I am not...

In Singapore, I doubt you can find real fresh milk. However, if I am not wrong, there is a company in Singapore which produces their own milk locally. I am not sure whether this is true or not considering that land is very expensive in Singapore and the milk produced in Singapore would be rather expensive. Oh, I am talking about cow juice, not goat juice. The company is Vishnu. And from what I read, these cows are fed grass! It is rather rare to find cows being fed grass these days. Most cows are fed grains and soy, which basically makes them rather unhealthy but increases the protein content of their milk, which is what producers want. So if you are interested in your health, you should serious consider drinking grass fed cow’s milk. If it is true that Vishnu feeds their cows grass, then I am all for supporting Vishnu. You can find their yogurts in most local supermarkets but as for their milk, I have only seen them in NTUC. Too bad. And the price is pretty reasonable as well. Good for you, Vishnu!

Anyway, I am here to review yet another milk. This time it is the Magnolia Fresh Milk, which by the way is one of the most expensive milk on our shelves. Not too sure why their prices are so high but it is surprisingly higher than Pura’s!  Well, let’s hope that it is because their cows are fed healthy grass and this means better quality of milk. But I doubt so. It is very difficult to find grass fed cow’s milk anymore. Since nowadays, emphasis is making profits via volume, it is more affordable to feed their cows grain and soy so that the cows can produce more milk faster.

Here we have the Magnolia Fresh Milk. Pretty common in Singapore’s supermarkets.

Ahhh……pure natural trusted! As most milk in Singapore, it is pasteurised and homogenised. Okay lah, at least it is not ultra-pasteurised. We know that a good amount of nutrients and vitamins are destroyed during the pasteurisation process, just imagine how much is destroyed if the milk is subjected to intense temperature and pressure in ultra-pasteurised milk! Bad. Definitely no something which is healthy for you or for your kids.

Wow, source of protein, trans-fat free and contains calcium! The ingredients are 100& fresh milk! Wooohooo!

Hmmm….milk is the very first food we consume. It is nature’s way of providing nutrients for our body. From the mother’s milk at birth through to adulthood, milk is a good source of nourishment. F&N Magnolia fresh milk has that delicious, smooth & creamy taste we all love PLUS all the goodness that milk provides. It can be enjoyed chilled or warm, plain or mixed with other foods or beverages such as breakfast cereals, porridge, tea, coffee, chocolate or even blended into a smoothie with your favourite fruit. For me, I merely use them to make my Kefir. Sometimes I would use them to make yogurt. But nowadays it is still mainly Kefir. Remember, Kefir is a probiotic powerhouse! And the good bacteria in kefir produces various amounts of other vitamins and enzymes which makes it even healthier!

Oh, by the way, this is a product of Singapore. Does this mean that the cows are kept in Singapore or does it mean that the milk is transported from somewhere and this is packed in Singapore. Kind of weird especially since even F&N Malaysia imports this milk from Singapore. Won’t it make more business sense to pack the milk in Singapore? And if the milk is from Singapore, how are the cows fed?
