My Fridge Died

Nobody appreciates their good old fridge till it goes down. Then all of a sudden, we understand the importance of having a fridge and we start to value it more. Lol, not really, but it can be kind of irritating to have your fridge die on you and with that, all the food that is stored in the fridge. I actually didn’t realize that my fridge had died. It did give some very slight funky smell from all those heated coils behind the fridge and that lasted for a few days. I had thought that it was due to the coils being overheated or something. Then I noticed that the stuff in the freezer was starting to thaw slightly. I knew then that my fridge was gone. The bright side is that it lasted me about 4 years in all. Not bad considering that it cost a measly $400 for such a big fridge. If I remembered correctly, I got the fridge for a discount.

And the sad thing is that all the food that is stored in the fridge was stale as well. Gain City has a waiting list of 2 days for their goods to be delivered, so no choice I had to clear away those perishables from the fridge and when I say perishables, I mean nearly everything. Luckily, most of the stuff in my fridge were those which I had forgotten or had no idea what they were for. So, at least not a big heartache. Actually, it was kind of a blessing in disguise. It gave me a chance and a reason to clear my fridge of all the unwanted stuff. And by the time the new fridge was delivered, I had thrown away almost everything. That includes my butter, some ice cream, yogurt and some of my recent purchases. No biggie but still a waste. You don’t expect me to finish off so much butter, yogurt and ice cream in one sitting right? My family members are not into these stuff either. So I ate what I could and discard the rest. It is actually quite interesting to realize that most people (including me) had tons of unwanted stuff tucked in our fridge. So one day, find some time to clear your fridge. You will be surprised to find that you actually do have a lot of space in your fridge.

Anyway, Gain City delivered the new fridge and all is fine. I didn’t get a fancy high tech fridge, just a pretty normal one. No weird gadgets nor whatever high tech temperature control. Just a plain old fridge. The price is $300 over with a 2 year warranty. Okay lah, stuff nowadays are not meant to last long anyway.
