For me, if I have an easier option, I think freshly squeezed juice is definitely better than all those packaged juice, simply due to the fact that even if they claim that it is “freshly squeezed” , they will always be some way during the process in which vitamins, nutrients or something is lost. The only way to prevent that is go get a fresh fruit and squeeze it immediately. Of course, you will need to drink it immediately as well. Or the vitamins and the nutrients might escape. And manufacturers tend to add some chemicals or heat processing in order to preserve their juice – make money what! Longer shelf life means more profit for them. That is the nature of business. We can’t go much about that. But what we can do is spend money on stuff that we want and would want them to come up with. Yes, in other words, you vote with your wallets. So if you want convenient juices without all trouble of squeezing them yourself but you want them without preservatives or any additives, then you should avoid those brands which do and buy those that don’t. It will encourage them to start producing foodstuff that we want.

So, let me introduce to you this Ashton Valley brand of fruit juices. If you are lazy and do not want to squeeze your own juice, this is the best alternative. It comes without any preservatives and best of all, it is NOT from concentrate – direct crushed juice. Yes, that means no high heat treatment. It is important that we get the juice as fresh as possible.

Photo of the Ashton Valley Crush  Apple & Strawberry Juice in a big glass bottle. Although it looks quite big, it is actually just 1 litre of juice. But very heavy. I had to carry this from Sheng Siong to my house. My arm almost broke off half way.

I like the design of the bottle. And the colour of the juice is just beautiful.

There you have it – Red and Green Apples & Strawberries. Looks so tempting. 100% Australian Fruit. You see the continent of Australia (green and yellow island) on the right? Yes, it is to tell you that it is from Australia.

No added sugar. No added preservatives. No added colour. No concentrate. If a beautiful girl walk pass me, I also no concentrate on work what. I think they meant, not made from concentrate (as in those juices that have been boiled into a thick syrup). Their juice plant is right here in the orchard so the fruit is always fresh. Their juice is crisp and pleasant on the palate and may be enjoyed on its own or as an accompaniment to most good foods. True, especially in warm weathers, this drink is absolutely delicious. Even my father (who doesn’t really like cold drinks) enjoys this.

Oh, this is a product of Australia. Land of Kangaroos. I like Kangaroos too. I mean, who doesn’t? They are so cute till the moment they kick your head off.

Some nutrition information for you to err…absorb. As for the ingredients, they are freshly squeezed apple and strawberry juices and vitamin c! Wow! Very short ingredients list usually mean one thing – less processing and that means healthier food (or drink in this case)! So if you see a product with a long list of ingredients with very weird chemical sounding names, then you better avoid them.

See, there are sediments at the bottom. Proof that it has not been processed at all. Most juice manufacturers will pasteurised and filter their products so that it will look good for their customers. I would prefer all those good stuff in my drink.

If you have any interesting drinks you would like me to review, give me a hoot below.

Huh? What is Fantasy Paradise? Well, judging from the label, it most likely mean a mix of strawberries, raspberries and pineapples. A bit of an unorthodox mix of fruits, but I like it. I am bored with all these normal flavours you see everyday in the stores. Singaporeans don’t seem to like the more exotic flavours, sticking to the same old ones. It is just too bad. If Singaporeans were more adventurous, we would be seeing more and more flavours coming in to our stores, which is a good thing. Can’t always stay the same always right? Oh well…..

Anyway, I bought this from Tampines NTUC a few days ago. As most of the stuff I buy, it was on offer for about S$2.95 per 500g tub of yogurt. Quite reasonable, but still not the cheapest. You can get Marigold 1kg tub for S$5.60 if you are lucky. I have been eating Marigold yogurt on and off for the last few weeks, so I thought I should really go for something else. Nestle seems to be a good choice. Not as expensive as Dairy Farmers and it is around the same league as Marigold yogurts. Furthermore,it does have some very interesting flavours.

Sorry about the slightly blurred picture. The lighting isn’t that good. This is the Nestle Fantasy Paradise Yogurt. Yum yum!

Ahhhh….extra creamy & fruity. Yes, in my opinion, it is pretty creamy. Much creamier than the Marigold yogurt. And best of all, it is not too sweet! This is something which you seldom find in our commercial yogurt these days. Most are just loaded with sugar to mask the tartness of the yogurt. Good job there, Mr Nestle Person. However, I have a major complain – you can hardly taste any fruits in the yogurt. Sure you do get small pieces of fruits here and there, but other than that, it is just yogurt. To me, there is absolutely no strawberry, raspberry or even pineapple flavour in the yogurt other than the bits and pieces of fruits. However, this could be the result of just adding fruits and no additional flavours, which in it’s own way, is good for us. I really don’t care for artificial flavourings in my food anyway. The problem is that we are so used to eating highly flavoured yogurt that it might feel a bit strange to taste just plain (although sweetened) yogurt. If they do add flavourings, I didn’t taste any in the yogurt.

Errr….I think it means added Calcium. The words are in Malay.

Hahaha, good to know. Nestle yogurt is rich, creamy yet low in fat and your source for calcium. The ideal daily indulgence! Well, in a way this is true. Yes, very likely. I believe that the calcium in the yogurt is better absorbed by your body than compared to drinking milk.

Okay, we got it. See, 500g of delicious and heavenly yogurt for you to enjoy.

Ya, comes with live culture and has no artificial colouring. Hmmm….how about flavourings? Do they add flavourings to the yogurt.  And I think their maths fail – 135g x 3 (servings) = 405g. This tub is supposed to contain 500g of yogurt what!

Ingredients are milk solids, mixed fruits like pineapple, strawberry, rapsberry, mixed live cultures like l.bulgaricus, s.thermophilus, stabilizers and flavourings. Damn, I was wrong. They do add flavourings in their yogurt. And why don’t they add probiotic cultures in their yogurt like l.acidophilus?

Anyway, this yogurt should be made in Malaysia and hopefully, the “milk solids” they use are from Australia or New Zealand and not from China. Even if it has been a year or so since the poisioning case, I am still very much afraid of stuff made in China or contains ingredients from China. Ciao, see you next time and remember to keep on eating healthy foods.

Yes, it finally came! 100g of Jasmine Pearl Dragon Green Tea has arrived by mail and I am eager to try it out. As you guys should know, I had bought this 100g of green tea from eBay and it comes with free shipping. Not a bad deal. If I am not wrong, the seller is based in Hong Kong, either that or his own supplier is based in Hong Kong. Probably a very good business transaction. And if you are wondering why I bought this online instead from some local store in Singapore? Well, I guess the main reason is that the prices of high quality green tea is extraordinarily high in Singapore. Much more expensive than if I bought it from overseas. You would expect Singapore, a country with a good majority of Chinese would have some value for money tea stores. But you are wrong. Or I could just not be looking at the right places. The price of this 100g Jasmine Pearl Dragon Green Tea is about S$16. If you can find the same type of green tea in Singapore for the same price or lower, please leave a comment below. I would very much like to know where in Singapore sells such cheap tea.

Anyway, I hope that you guys know that drinking green tea is good for you. The huge amount of antioxidants present in green tea will help you fend off free radicals seeking to destroy your cells. And it taste good too. Every morning, I would have a cup of tea, either green tea or rooibos tea. It is a extremely refreshing start in the morning. Some people drink coffee, I drink tea.

The foil pack the Jasmine Pearl Dragon Green Tea came in. Look at the label if you don’t believe me.

Hmmm….that is one of the pearls. It is actually green tea leaves that have been dried and rolled into a ball and then scented with Jasmine. My friend told me it looks like a moth-ball. I have to agree. lol.

I put them in a metal tin, just like those tea tins you find in the stores. Even Coffee Bean and Starbucks also sell their teas in such tins. My father has tons of these tins in the kitchen. I am sure he won’t miss one. Anyway, from this picture, they look like those eggs which at any moment will hatch some little cockroaches. Eeeeeeek!

As you can see from this picture, the green tea ball is breaking apart in the hot water and slowly the leaves are starting to form. Initially the tea balls will all float on the hot water, but after a few seconds, they start to unfold and most of them will sink to the bottom of the glass. I usually drink tea in those English tea cups, but for this photo I used a transparent straight glass instead so that you guys can see the actual tea.

There, quite a number of the tea had sinked to the bottom of the cup.

Check it out – the tea is ready for you to drink! A bit greenish in colour. But do not drink it immediately. Place your nose on the rim of the cup and take a deep breathe – that’s the wonderful Jasmine fragrance you are smelling. The actual tea tastes quite nice. A refreshing aftertaste and very subtle sweetness , this tea is just wonderful. Of course, it could be because I have been drinking green tea from tea bags all these while that I have no idea how great green tea is actually.

Shih-Chuan Plum Vinegar

Vinegar, vinegar, vinegar. Have any of you ever tasted vinegar in raw form before? I know that we Chinese do add vinegar in some of our noodles, but those are mixed with oil, chills, meat, sesame seed oil and other ingredients, so the taste is slightly diluted and changed. I am talking about straight from the bottle vinegar. Yucks, it taste damn gross. Something a bit like Soya sauce flavour but with a much pungent nose-hitting aftertaste. And the smell is just horrible. No one in their right mind would drink vinegar, no matter how diluted it was. I had always thought that vinegar is only good for enhancing flavours and nothing else. Yes, you put them in salads, in noodles and sometimes as a sauce. However, after reading the Internet, I realize that (fermented and un-pasteurised) vinegar can be a very health promoting beverage, though drinking vinegar straight up can be a huge challenge only the brave (like me) dares to take.

If you have been browsing our local supermarkets, you will definitely have seen this Shih-Chuan Fruit Vinegar on the shelves. These are actually fermented vinegar which fruit juice have been added. And some of them actually tasted quite nice. I think that this would be a more appealing choice to consumers rather than drinking just vinegar. Of course, I am not sure whether the vinegar in the drink has been pasturised or not. My emails to the manufacturer has not been answered. So, let’s hope that there is still some health benefit to be gained from drinking this.

Ahhh….this is the Shih-Chuan Plum Vinegar pack. All green. lol!

Another view of the Shih-Chuan Plum Vinegar. Check out all those delicious looking very ripe green plums. Looks good doesn’t it?

Hmmm….ready to drink pack. Yes, that is it. Convenience is all that matters. Plum aroma, sweet and sour taste that moisture(?) your throat and quench your thirst. Remember guys, this is vinegar, rinse your mouth after drinking as it might affect your teeth enamel. You can experiment by placing an egg shell in a bowl of vinegar and checking the result.

Ahhhh….140ml only! The only thirst this drink is going to quench is my baby nephew’s.

The back of the Shih-Chuan Plum Vinegar.

Yes, made in Taiwan. Several of my friends like Taiwanese variety shows. I don’t know why. The ingredients for this drink are water, plum juice, fermented vinegar and fructose. Not sure what kind of fructose this is, but if it is corn syrup, then yucks!

Oh by the way, deposition is a natural occurrence. I guess what they meant is that it is okay to find sediment in the drink, as the fermented vinegar will tend to have some strands of disgusting stuff. But for me, I found no such thing.

Ahhh….the nutrition table for you to enjoy.

Some labels for you to ogle at.

Well, this is one of the best flavours from Shih-Chuan Fruit Vinegar. I love the plum taste. Probably because plum and vinegar goes so well together. Go ahead and try it. Yes, it is a bit on the expensive side, but you will find it a refreshing change from the regular old fruit juice or soda drinks we are so used to.

First Choice Dried Cranberry Natural Strawberry Flavoured!

Fiber! We all need it, especially with our current diet these days. Just look at all those fried stuff we are eating, a little fiber will definitely help clear away all those unwanted crap we put into our bodies. Yes, vegetables and fruits are good sources of fiber. And dried fruits is even better when it comes to fiber content in relation to its weight. Plus dried fruits are so convenient. I mean, for fresh fruits, you will need to cut them and when you eat, your hands might get messy or the juice might drip on your expensive Persian rug. So, why not eat dried fruits. All you need to do is pop a few pieces into your mouth when you are walking or in the office. No, you cannot eat food in the trains anymore. Those MRT train police will come and arrest you and send you to some concentration camp in Jurong Island.

Seriously, I think with our hectic lifestyle, dried fruits are a very good way to get fiber and even antioxidants for our bodies. We don’t have time to grab a few bites of fresh fruits anymore, either that or it is rather inconvenient. But do not think for a moment that dried fruits is a substitute for fresh fruits. They are not. You still should consume some fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Our modern dried fruits are processed and during that process, nutrients and vitamins might be lost, thus you might not get the full benefit of fresh fruits and vegetables.

There you go, natural strawberry flavoured dried cranberry fusion. It is a cool way to say that this is dried cranberry that has been dipped in some strawberry juice or something. Do note that without any sweetener, cranberries are way too sour to be consumed by the general public. So sweeteners are always a must, which in my opinion is very disappointing.

Ya loh, those are cranberries! And in the background, those are strawberries.

Net weight is 100g. And this is a product of the United States. Of course, it is naturally cholesterol free. If it has cholesterol, then there is something very wrong here. At the very least, the labeling is honest enough to say that it is “naturally” cholesterol free. I like honesty, which is very much lacking in today’s businesses.

The pack of the 100g pack of dried cranberries.

Well, the ingredients are sugar, cranberries, acidity regulator (330), natural strawberry flavour, elderberry juice concentrate and sunflower oil. What’s the deal with this elderberry juice?

Hmmm….the all-important nutrition table.  Please don’t fall asleep reading them.

Good advice. Keep your dried foodstuff in a cool, dry place. And yes, avoid direct sunlight. They might make your dried foodstuff rancid.

Well, as mentioned earlier, this is a product of the United States. And it is packed in Malaysia. No Singapore. Too bad. Would be good to be packed in Singapore to provide jobs for Singaporeans. But then, business is still business. It would probably be cheaper to pack in Malaysia than in Singapore.

Hoooooot! These are the small pieces of cranberries. Pop one into your mouth and you will agree with me that it is just heavenly. One of my friends commented that this is a bit too sweet. I tend to agree. But come on, most of the stuff we eat nowadays are loaded with all sorts of sweeteners and this dried cranberry doesn’t even come close to the amount of sugar they contain. Look at the bright side, you get a good amount of fiber and some antioxidants as well.

Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar

It is about time I reviewed this! If you have been reading the various health sites, you will definitely have came across articles talking about the virtues of drinking fermented vinegar. It seems that this is a very popular drink in a lot of cultures, although most of them probably used different types of vinegars. In fact, there are so many types of vinegar out there that I have no idea where the original vinegar came from. We have rice wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, balsamic, red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, malt vinegar and so on. Yes, I know, most of us nowadays use vinegar for our salads and nothing more. But hey, it can be a very healthy drink (or so the pundits claim). I being a sucker for all these will have to try it to confirm what they say.

I purchased the Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar. It is supposed to be the most popular and most beneficial of all the available apple cider vinegar out there, as it is unfiltered and unpasteurised, which maintains all the nutrients and amino acids and others which actually makes the Apple Cider Vinegar is “cure-all”. They claim that Apple Cider Vinegar is a very good home remedy for a number of ailments and pains. However, the truth is, there are not much medical research to support these claims. One possible reason is that there are NO big corporations to help fund these research. Unlike those little pills you pop into your mouth everyday (and paid big bucks for), where their supposed big health benefits are supported by “years” of research and studies.

For those who don’t know, Apple Cider Vinegar is made from Hard Apple Cider. Hard Apple Cider is made from fermentation of apples into alcohol, where the sugars in the apples is converted to alcohol by the yeast. To get Apple Cider Vinegar, you then ferment the Hard Apple Cider with something called “The Mother” which converts the alcohol into vinegar. During this process, enzymes, amino acids, malic acid, acetic acid and so on are created. All these have benefits to your body. To read more about the benefits, please refer to this site: health benefits of apple cider vinegar.

The Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar bottle.

Another view of the Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.

Who is that friendly looking lady on the top? Must be the creator or the boss of Bragg. This Bragg brand is America’s favourite 100% organic Apple Cider Vinegar. It comes raw which means that it is unfiltered and untreated. And that means that all the beneficial stuff that comes with Apple Cider Vinegar is still in the vinegar. That is why you should only choose those vinegar that have not been filtered and treated with heat or pasteurised.

What? What Mother? This contains no preservatives. If it did, I think I will shoot a nasty email to them. Come on, Vinegar doesn’t need preservaties, ever! It itself is some sort of a preservative, so why the need to add any preservatives? Oh, this Apple Cider Vinegar is made from 100% organic apples. Well, this means that you will feel good and happy, but seriously, what really is the difference between non-organic and organic?

Ahhh….aged in wood. So this Apple Cider Vinegar will have a slight woody smell and flavour? Don’t have, smells more like old sweaty socks.

Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is made from the finest, delicious, organically grown apples. Raw Apple Cider is full of zesty natural goodness and contains the amazing “mother” of vinegar which occurs naturally as connected strand-like chains of protein enzyme molecules and is highly regarded throughout history. Bragg’s Vinegar is a way to add delicious flavour to salads, veggies, most foods and even over popcorn. What? Are you sure? Who drizzle Apple Cider Vinegar over popcorn? Those silly health freaks!

Some very cool recipes for you.

Okay, here we have the ingredients list – certified organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, diluted with purified water to 5% acidity. There are no information in the nutrition table. I wonder why they put this nutrition table up in the first place? I guess this is to tell you that there are no trans-fat and so on. Oh yes, this is a product of the United States. Yaaah!

Anyway, I have been drinking this Apple Cider Vinegar for about 3 days already. For me, it taste okay, but my family members are very much afraid of the smell of this Vinegar. It really smell like old socks. But I think I am getting used to it. I normally diluted one tablespoon of the Vinegar with some water and add a tablespoon of honey to it. And drink it in one shot. Oh, do not sip vinegar for long periods as it might damage your teeth. Rinse your mouth after drinking the vinegar. I will report back in about 6 months time and see how I am feeling. Ciao!

Marigold Low Fat Yogurt Prune

Wuhahaha, is there no end to yogurt reviews? No, as long as I live, I will keep on reviewing yogurt. But of course, if I went and purchase old yogurts which have already been reviewed, then no choice loh. I can’t be reviewing the same old yogurt time and again right? Readers will get bored or they might fall asleep at their desk or worse, write in and complain. Although I have reviewed quite a number of yogurt already, I think there are lots of other yogurts which I have not reviewed yet. Those are less common yogurts which can only be found at certain bigger supermarkets. Most smaller supermarkets only carry the same old “common” brands, which can get pretty boring real fast. But what to do? Singaporeans don’t seem to like changes or to try out new stuff. One of my friends eats only one particular brand of yogurt. I guess it is integrated into Singapore’s culture already.

However, this prune flavour is a rather new flavour. Either that or I have not paid much attention to something which is prune flavoured. Who in the world wants prune in their yogurt?? You will expect flavours like strawberry, peaches, apples, mixed berries, mango and even lime/lemon, but prune??! But guys, I will tell you this, Marigold did it right this time! The taste of this prune yogurt is delightful. The right amount of sourness plus those tiny pieces of prune, makes the whole experience of eating this yogurt heavenly. I never expect to say this, but BRAVO MARIGOLD! Good job there. I would highly recommend you to try out the prune flavour yogurt.

Okay, we have the 2 pack of Marigold Low Fat Yogurt Prune. Is it me, or does the prune in the picture looks slightly disgusting?

Check out all those prune in the yogurt. No, you won’t get big chunks of prune, but tiny weeny pieces of prune in the yogurt. Don’t be fooled by the labels okay? Anyway, it would be difficult to eat the yogurt if there are big (and hard) pieces of prunes in there.

Hmmm…..the healthier choice. I wonder how do you get this Health Promotion Board logo? Does it involve money? And their advice to eat all foods in moderation is a sound one, everyone should heed to this good advice. Furthermore, they got Live & Active Cultures, waiting to do good in your gut.

The top of the 2 pack. Check out the use-by date.

Yaaa!!! Low Fat, contains live probiotics cultures like l.bularicus and s.thermophilus for a healthy digestive system, comes with calcium for strong bones development and has real prunes. First of all, those yogurt cultures, some would not consider them as real probiotics. And all yogurt comes with calcium since they are made with milk. Unless of course if somehow during the process they destroy or removed the calcium from the milk/yoogurt.

Yes, one cup of yogurt. So little, where got enough?

Okay, the ingredients are milk solids, prune, sucrose, permitted stablilisers(of plant origin), permitted flavourings and live cultures. Why can’t they make yogurt from fresh milk instead of milk solids? Still waiting for someone to make their yogurt direct from fresh milk.

Yoghurt or yogurt, the same thing. Different spelling only.

Check out the tiny weeny pieces of prune in the yogurt. Well, the colour is a bit off due to the lighting conditions I took this photo in. The real stuff should be slightly whiter instead of this yellowish brownish colour. Don’t worry, you will love it!

First Choice Dried Mixed Fruits

Yet one of thoseFirst Choice product. Seems that they are every where nowadays, especially at Shop N Save and Cold Storage. I know, First Choice is their housebrand and they are promoting it but sometimes, it just seems to be every where in the store. You can’t escape from the lure of that First Choice logo, which by the way, is simple yet elegant. They really did a good rebranding and marketing of the First Choice brand. That is good, unlike most other supermarket chains which merely repackage other people’s products and sell them as their own, without doing much marketing or promotion. Heck, most of their packaging sucks to the core. But not First Choice. Their packaging and design is top-notch. Well….considering that this is Singapore, their packaging and design is top-notch.

Anyway, I bought the First Choice Dried Mixed Fruits. As you guys should know by now, I am into all things healthy. And what is more healthy than fruits. Sure, they aren’t as good as fresh fruits in terms of nutrition but from what I read, the amount of antioxidants actually increase in dried fruits. Furthermore, some of the vitamins are still preserved (of course, not all the vitamins) and the fiber content is just amazing for it’s weight. For me, I think dried fruits are a convenience, as you don’t really need a lot of space to store or carry along, you don’t need a fridge nor do you need to worry about it spoliting. But if you have a choice, please go for the fresh fruits. Do not substitute fresh fruits with dried fruits in your daily diet.

Here we have the First Choice Dried Mixed Fruits. I see grapes, grapes and more grapes. Just different colour. What gives?

100g of dried mixed fruit is a healthy snack which you and your family can enjoy. Go ahead.

Yes, a product of the United States. And it is naturally cholesterol-free.

The pack of the pack. Too small to view? Don’t worry, I have taken more detailed photos for your viewing pleasure.

The ingredients are California black raisins, California jumbo golden raisins, cranberries, sugar, sunflower oil and sulphur dioxide. Ahhh….you had thought that they were all grapes right? No, they are raisins and cranberries. Too bad, they added sugar into the mix. But then, I seriously doubt that Singapore consumers will even eat this dried fruits snack if they didn’t add any sugar. Our tastebuds are badly spolit by our sugar filled diets.

The nutrition table.

Wow, so much useless information…..

Check it out – the cranberries (reddish ones), the black raisins (the dark red ones) and the jumbo golden raisins (brownish one). Well, they might not look that appealing right now, but if you put them in your mouth, you will understand what I mean! Heaven! Best of all, it is not too sweet. Price wise, it is quite reasonable as well lah. Singapore where got anything cheap one? I am proud of Cold Storage and their efforts in providing us with good alternatives from the regular fare of crappy products in the stores.

Cadbury Old Gold Dark Chocolate

Hahahahaha, now we are talking – this Cadbury Old Gold Dark Chocolate is the real dark chocolate. Most of the other dark chocolate I have reviewed are not really dark chocolate in the sense that they do not control enough cocoa solids. I guess the experts would call chocolate DARK CHOCOLATE if it contains more than 70% cocoa solids. And this Cadbury Old Gold Dark Chocolate contains exactly that! Of course, the taste might not be appreciated by most though. This is most probably due to the fact that we have been eating way too much milk chocolate that our expectations of chocolate is this creamy, slightly soft, sweet, melt in your mouth and with only a little whiff of cocoa kind of snack. Not that chunky, hard but aromatic and complex tasting piece of blackish stuff. Again, kind of sad if you ask me. You don’t know what you are missing if you don’t try real dark chocolate.

Although I would agree that dark chocolate prices in Singapore is on the high side, but I believe that prices would soon drop due to the increase in demand and supply of dark chocolate. As people start to realize that dark chocolate can be very delicious and it imparts a host of health benefits to the consumer, more and more Singaporeans will start to buy dark chocolate.

Yes, this is the Cadbury Old Gold Dark Chocolate. Now it comes in a hard paper pack. Before, it came in flimsy piece of paper which makes handling and transporting the chocolate difficult. This hard paper pack is much better. Oh right, you can’t really see it from the picture. Just go to the store and check them out loh.

Right – 70% cocoa solids. Good. As on the label, cocoa is rich in “natural” antioxidants.  You know what antioxidants are, yes? If you don’t know, they are “stuff” which helps fight against the free radicals in your body. Free radicals are “stuff” which is produced during the normal process of your body functions and they can be harmful to your body if left unchecked. Consuming antioxidants is a good way to limit the bad effects of free radicals.

Oh, check out the intensity rating – pretty high. Yes, dark chocolate taste is “complex” to say the least.

200g only? I am so sad. This is the original taste of Old Gold Dark Chocolate with 70% cocoa! Cool.

The back of the Cadbury Old Gold Dark Chocolate pack.

Hmmm….the ancient Mayans were the first to discover the true value of cacao beans, the source of chocolate. Cacao beans became a form of currency and were traded for gold such as their worth. It is from this tradition that Cadbury Old Gold was born. Old Gold with its smooth, lingering, intense taste delivers the original dark chocolate experience that the Mayans so valued. Old Gold, worth its weight in Gold. Thank god that the last sentence is not true. If it was true, we would all not have tasted Cadbury’s dark chocolate at all.

Okay, the ingredients are cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa powder and flavour. Wow, such a short ingredient list can only mean that it is good! Wuhahaha.  If you eat 100g of this chocolate, you get 2000mg of polyphenols. So, go ahead, eat more dark chocolate, my friends.

Cadbury is very popular everywhere. This chocolate is made in Australia but the ingredients might come from elsewhere. I certainly hope that they don’t get their milk from China. Nobody knows what goes into China milk. Did you check out the Cadbury advertisements on the TV? Got those two kids playing with their eyebrows to some techno music? Cute right? Anyway, go out and buy some dark chocolate. It might need some getting used to, but you will not regret tasting dark chocolate.
