You guys must be getting sick and tired of all these yogurt reviews. Lol. However, it looks like there will be even more yogurt reviews coming your way as even after eating tons and tons of yogurt, I am not sick of it at all. In fact, I am loving yogurt more and more. And best of all, I can feel my health improving by leaps and bounds. Even with everyone coughing in my face at the office, I still feel fine. No coughing, no sneezing and no fever. Just last week about 2 or 3 of my colleagues went on Medical Leave and I am sure that the coming week, even more will be down with various illness. That is the problem with working in a small office, disease spreads just too easily. And for those taking the public transport like our bus or MRT service, everyday you will be in contact with sick people who can’t stop coughing or sneezing at you. That again is one of the major causes of infections in Singapore. What to do? If only ill stricken Singaporeans start to learn to use masks when they go outside to stop the diseases from spreading. And for god’s sake, please wash your hands!

If you read the Internet on the health benefits of yogurt, many of them claim that it provides immunity against diseases. I am sure that it is probably an exaggeration but it does help to  improve our immunity against some diseases, especially against those that bacteria to enters through the gut and intestines. The live cultures in the yogurt helps to fight against these bad bacteria. And to do that, you must consume yogurt regularly, preferably every day.

Anyways, here are the photos of the Yoplait Lite Yogurt from Australia!

As you can see from the above picture, I purchased the yogurt from NTUC Tampines Mall. I bought 2 flavours – one is Mango while the other is Berry Bliss. Oh, I have done a review on the Berry Bliss flavoured Yoplait yogurt before. But hey, no harm done. We will just review it again!

And cool, the lady cashier is named Shan Mei!

Yes, these are the 125g of Yoplait Lite Yogurt. Lite means low fat yogurt. In Singapore, we are all watching our weight so the only yogurt you can find in our stores are all low fat or no fat yogurts. It is then very suprising to see so many fat, out of shape Singaporeans stuffing their fat mouths full of oily fried foods and sugar filled ice cream. Boogles the mind doesn’t it?

Made in Australia! It is always much safer to consume dairy products from Australia and New Zealand than from other countries. That’s my opinion anyway seeing that in Australia and New Zealand, there are fewer “scandals” involving their dairy industry unlike other countries. Oh, I love the Yoplait logo. Simple yet elegant.

Check out the ingredients in the Mango flavoured yogurt. It consists of Low fat yogurt, milk solids which are non-fat, sugar, mango, halal gelaine, thickeners, flavours, acidity regulators, natural colour, preservatives and the live yogurt cultures s.thermophilus, l.acidophilus and bifidobacterium. All good cultures and if eaten in sufficient qualities, will provide you with several health benefits.

And the Yoplait yogurt is imported by F&N Foods Pte Ltd.

This is for the Berry Bliss flavoured Yogurt. The fruits that are in the Berry Bliss are Strawberry, Raspberries, Blackberries and Boysenberries.  Very very delicious indeed!

99% fat free! I am sure that this is very important for most Singapore consumers of yogurt. And the 3 active cultures are s.thermophilus, l.acidophilus and bifidobacterium. Remember, if you buy yogurt, you must always ensure that the yogurt cultures are live and active.

Okay, this is the photo of the Yoplait Berry Bliss yogurt. Come on and have a taste of this wonderful dessert. I will often eat yogurt in the morning and maybe even at night as a snack.

Okay, I am done with this review. If you have any thoughts on the little review or on yogurt itself (like you hate that lumpy, glooy shit), please leave some comments. Thank you and all the best for the new year.

Easiyo Yogurt Sachet – Strawberry Flavour

Baahh….I went and bought myself yet another Easiyo Yogurt Sachet a few days back and made myself 1kg of delicious yogurt. Don’t you just love home made stuff? I am now trying my hands on more variety of yogurt and experimenting with using different types of yogurt starter. Yes, I am sure that some of the yogurt will turn out not to be successful but most will. Making yogurt is very easy. It is even easier when you use a yogurt maker. All the guesswork has been taken out and you will usually get a good product in the end. I have made about 10 batches of yogurt using the Easiyo Yogurt Maker and the Easiyo Yogurt Sachet (Real Base & Culture) and all turned out good. Of course there are some which turned out to be creamier and firmer than the rest but I think the most likely reason is because of sanitation. Or perhaps they just didn’t have enough time to ferment properly.

And if you are making using just yogurt starter and milk and you have a very clean yogurt jar or container, the yogurt should not turn out to be too runny if you used Full Cream Milk. Of course, low fat or no fat milk, the resulting yogurt will always be a little runnier. The fats in the milk will make the yogurt creamier. And yes, commercial store bought yogurt has added thickeners which make their yogurt firmer. And it is due to these thickeners and other additives that I recommend my readers to make their own yogurt. Or buy those plain yogurts that are free from any additives.

Okay, now I will begin with the pictures of the Easiyo Real Base & Cultures sachet which I had purchased from Phoon Huat.

No surprise here, the price is still S$5.60. After weeks of complaining about the high price of the Easiyo Sachets, it seems that Phoon Huat does not agree with me that the price is too high. Damn you, Phoon Huat! I am going broke here.

Yet another picture of the Easiyo Real Base & Culture. This time it is the Strawberry flavour. You can’t go wrong with Strawberry flavour. It is used everywhere and in nearly every dessert and snacks. And yes, this makes 1kg of yogurt.

The back label of the Easiyo sachet. Made in New Zealand! And from what I read from the Internet, the milk to make the powdered milk never leaves New Zealand which means that it is very safe. Several sources on the Internet had claimed that New Zealand milk has been shipped to China for processing into powdered form and in the process, chemicals (like Melamine) have been added to the milk and then returned to New Zealand in powdered form. And sadly from what I know, the milk powder is still labelled as Made In New Zealand. But this is not the case for Easiyo. Thank the gods! I have eaten about 10kg of Easiyo Yogurt already!

Well the ingredients are whole & skim milk solids, sugar, flavouring, live lactic cultures like l.bulgaricus, s.thermophilus, l.acidophilus and bifidobaceteria and natural colouring – beetroot red. Nearly the same as the rest of the Easiyo yogurt scahets. And if you look carefully, you can see that there is a sticker which states that it is imported & distributed by Phoon Huat & Co Pte ltd. Lower your prices please!

And I have nearly finish this home made strawberry yogurt. Very tasty like most Easiyo yogurt. I await for more exciting flavours from Easiyo.

Happy New Year + Candy!

I wish all my readers a Happy New Year! I know it is a bit too late to be wishing you guys a Happy New Year but it is better late...

I wish all my readers a Happy New Year! I know it is a bit too late to be wishing you guys a Happy New Year but it is better late than never right? I just hope that this year will be better than last year. 2008 was full of ups and downs. We saw Singapore’s economy rising very high and then at the end of the year dropping like a brick. Perhaps it was expected, seeing that the massive inflation we had was felt world wide, it will bound to take it’s toll on the world’s economy. Well, let’s cross our fingers and hope that by the middle of this year, the economy will bounce back and we can all get back to our free spending ways!

Err….for those who don’t care about the economy and don’t give a damn about what the New Year brings, I have well…..candy for you! I got this from Sheng Siong Supermarket. Yes, it is pretty common but I think it is unique at the same time. It is actually a soft gummy candy made into vegetable shapes. So  guess it is like eating vegetables and fruits made out of sugar. Cool isn’t it? Looks healthy but we know that it isn’t. And who here doesn’t like Gummy Candy?

Well, one bottle of the vegetable/fruit shaped candy costs about S$1.80. If you have a sweet tooth like me, this should be a reasonably priced sugar-filled enjoyment for you. Surprisingly, it taste very good. I mean, it is made out of sugar what!

The name of the sweet is First Food Jelly Candy. From what I know, there is no Jelly in this bottle. The correct term should be Gummy! Oh, check out the ingredients – Sugar, Glucose, Pecilin, Gelatine, Critic Acid, Flavour and Food Colour. Yah! Let’s get our sugar binge started.

That cat is holding the strawberry with it’s tail. Amazing!

A side view of the bottle.

See, Gummy made into the shapes of vegetables and fruits.  It actually looks kind of tempting. I couldn’t help myself, so I tried a few pieces before I gave the bottle to my nephew. Yes, it is tasty stuff and not too sweet (for a candy). I had expected it to be like cheap sucrose filled candies you commonly find at our local store, but surprisingly, it tasted decent enough, even for an adult to enjoy.

Okay guys, bye for now. I hope that you have enjoyed your New Year. Now, it’s wait for the Chinese New Year holidays. It happens this month end and we get a very long weekend as well. Hoooray!
