Should be overgrowth of yeast. Common thing. You might have over fermented it. Let it ferment for 24 hours or less. Singapore weather warmer so you will need to experiment with the period of fermentation. Or reduce the amount of grains.

Hi I'm new at this. And both times I get a film of yellow on the top? I used raw milk once and organic the other. There is about a tablespoon of grains to 600 ml milk. Let sit two days. Is that normal?

Cheers

Hi there,

I got some kefir grains from you way back. I have this bottle of kefir which was sitting in the fridge for 10 months.

The curds and "clear liquid" has separated. The "clear liquid" is kind of a sticky and has "threads" when scooped.

However the whole jar still smells very fragrant and sweet and does not seem spoil. Which is why I am reluctant to throw it away.

Is it still safe to drink?

Thanks!
Alba

Hi,

I'm writing on behalf of Shirley. She's a retiree and have had of kefir recently. She is interested to grow kefir/make kefir drinks at home but do not have the kefir grains or the likes. Could someone kind enough to share some. She leaves somewhere in AMK and if upon reply to her email she should be contacting you. Thank you.

Best wishes,

Ray (Skunk to her)
