Thank you very much for this helpful resource.my problem is having successfully uploaded all the files and typing mydomain.com/install i don’t get the error message that you show in your tutorial but i get the second page with the ‘The webserver environment has been verified to proceed with a successful installation and configuration of your online store.

Please continue to start the installation procedure

when i click on the continue button the next page which is mydomain.com/install/install.php is blank even after refreshing. What could be the problem?

Thanks so much for all of your step by step guidlines, they really helped me install this cart with ease.

One problem I did run into with Dreamweaver was setting the permissions on the includes/configure.php. I had to make the permissions writeable for the owner only. So heads up to anyone that encounters that problem

Do you mean I have an auction option inside the catalog folder?
And how would I activate it? I mean, how can somebody come and sell their stuff on my online store?

http://www.url.com/catalog/install/

It still shows the security alert but, I think, I’ll play with it and I’ll correct it. I do not understand though, I changed the permissions….

Well, all I want to say thank you again for such a nice tutorial.

P.S.is there any way to convert osCommerce to an online auction? I heard there is a some module in it that converts it to an auction?

Yes, I did. I uploaded everything in the ‘catalog’ folder and the upload was successful. Oh yeah, should I delete everything and upload the files to ‘public_html’ folder?

Hi, I refer to your guide. The upload was successful but when I tried to install osCommerce using the http://www.url.com/install/ thingy, it showed me an error page saying that ‘The requested URL /install/ was not found on this server.’ :S

chmod 644 the /includes/configure.php file. That means remove the write permission.
