Well, officially that the speeds advertized did not change but the overall speeds for the Starhub network seemed to have greatly improved. I am on Starhub MOL Premium, which had a lot of problems previously. Nowadays when surfing the Internet, it feels much faster than before. No more lagging and frustrating waits for the site to download completely. Don’t you just hate it when only the title appears while the rest of the page doesn’t even load when you are surfing? I really hate it especially when you don’t know when the page will actually load finish and you just sit there like a fool waiting.

However, I guess this speed improvement could be due to the PC Show which happened only recently. It seems to me that Starhub speeds improve only before and after such big computer shows. And in between, we get very sluggish network speeds from Starhub. I believe that the purpose is to attract new customers to their broadband plans. Well, I will have to wait and see whether this is true. I will get back to you guys whether the speeds is crappy in just about 2-3 weeks time. I won’t keep my fingers cross if I were you. Starhub has not always been what I would call “forthcoming” with their actions and they do have a lot of tricks up their sleeves. This should be one of them.

I have been complaining about the slow speeds for a while now and there was not a single positive response from them. Everytime you phone them, they claimed that it’s due to the website’s server or that they don’t have any problems from their end. They even claimed that it is due to people downloading and saturating the entire network. That’s just plain dumb since they have advertised their speeds as such, yet cannot fulfil what they had promised.
