Don’t know? Unless you are living in Alaska or Greenland or Northern Russia or anywhere the temperature is freezing cold, you will very likely know. Yes, it’s Ice-Cream! And who makes the best Ice-cream? Häagen-Dazs! Me love them. In Singapore where the weather is very warm, nothing beats an cold ice-cream in the blazing afternoon heat. Very refreshing. Just thinking of eating a Baileys Irish Cream ice-cream makes me all fuzzy inside. Ahh…simple pleasures. It’s just too bad that in Singapore, we seem to enjoy the sewer-reject slop they call “ice-cream” made by Walls. I don’t even think Walls is making ice-cream, more likely low quality ice-crap. Worse for all ice-cream lovers, Walls have invaded nearly every household in Singapore and gotten hold of a huge portion of the ice-cream market because of marketing.
Next time you think of buying ice-cream , don’t visit your friendly neighbourhood shop that sells Walls, try the bigger supermarkets and look for Häagen-Dazs stuff. Taste real ice cream for a change. Try the Butter Pecan or the Macadamia Brittle (I don’t think you can find this in Singapore, perhaps in selected stores only). Or you can visit the Häagen-Dazs stores to get a scope or two. You will come back for more.
Here are some of the other great makers of ice cream - Dreyer’s, Ciao Bella Gelatino, Cold Stone Creamery and Baskin Robbins.
